River otter success

Finally after 2 months of checking and moving traps around, I caught up with a river otter, my target btw. She tipped the scales ay 20 pounds.

A friend of mine took over this hunting lease that has a really good size beaver pond on it. I have never in my life seen the pond dry as most of the pond is over 10' deep. Flowing black water, but when you are out on it in a boat you can see all the way to the bottom. Just a beautiful pond.

Well I told my buddy that he should fish it as soon as he could because it should be loaded with fish. As soon as it warmed up he came to me and said that he fished the pond and not only did he not catch anything, he didn't see a single fish. BUTTTTT What he did see is a family of 4-5 otters running all over the banks and swimming throughout the pond.

I told him that's where his fish went.

They cleaned my neighbors pond out and you wouldn't think it, but the creek I got her in is not fishing as it should. The creek has gone down hill ever since the otter made it home. Certain times of the year it's good fishing, but when it gets low the deep holes are the otters buffet. I'll keep trying!!
