all are different..... buddy has a rock island 1911 and it seems to be pretty good for the money... i know rock river arms is in colona....but is rock island arms also in colona??

R.I.A.-Armscor. Made in the Phillipines. I have their Tactical model and is of great quality. The only thing I did to mine was to change out the front sight to fiber optic [green]. My buddy has a $1200 S&W 1911, and mine will shoot right along with his accuracy-wise. I say shoot it if you can, you will be impressed, especially for the price.

I also have one of their tactical models. It is my first 1911 and first .45acp so I don't have much to base it on. It has had zero issues though and shoots better than me. I would not hesitate to buy another one.

There's a guy on another forum (local) that is a huge fan of the RIA 1911s and got me looking at them. I've researched the heck out of them and can't seem to find anyone who says they're no good. The worst I've heard are a few who say they're fit an finish isn't perfect but that they're a good value.

I definitely plan on picking one up when I get the money or decide to trade something. Is it something I would trust as my everyday gun? Maybe not...at least not until I've run it through its paces and it's proven itself. But for a range shooter what the heck. As my dad always says; "the most you could lose is $300".
