Does anyone have any experience with the Rock River Varmint A4 and what are your opinions on it? Is it just as good as the Bushmaster Varminter? I'm looking into getting one of these.

Thanks

Adam

I have one and I really like it, but its really heavy in the 24" version, the barrel should be fluted to reduce weight, unless your shooting 300-600 yds get a 20" and have it fluted.

I have the 20" and LOVE it. I wouldn't trade it for any other. It is the ultimate prairie dog rifle, in my opinion. However, I don't think it is the ultimate walking coyote rifle because it is heavy. Half inch groups with my handloads are not a problem. They are also known for their tight fits.

I would much prefer the RR over the Bushmaster. Make sure you get a 1 in 8 twist barrel! RR is much heavier than the BushMaster and should out shoot it. This is why I use DPMS rifles. You can get 8 twist barrels, JP triggers, and fluted barrels from the factory.

coyotecaller,

I have a good frind in GA that uses the same rifle you are asking about in 600yd - 1000yd matches with good groups all the way down range.

Give it a try you will love it.

I have a RRA 24" Varmiter, & I could not be happier with the
choice. It is probably too heavy for some people, but not a problem for me. It is the most accurate .223 I have ever owned, which includes a Rem. Syn. Varmit700, a Rem. 788, Howa, NEF & other AR's. It will shoot sub 1/2" 5-shot groups all day long with 69 & 77 Sierra, 60 Gr. V-Max & 75 Hor. & a few hot lighter bullet loads. If I had it to do over again, I would buy the exact same gun!!!

I bought that same rifle last November in a 16" barrel. Really like it. First trip out bang-flopped a coyote around 110 yds from an unsupported, kneeling position. Very accurate. They are heavier than comparable makes, but I haven't had a problem carrying it (and I'm an old fart). I give it a /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
