Rock River Coyote Carbine or Predator Pursuit 16"

Been wanting to get a Rock River AR for a while now and I'm trying to decide between the coyote carbine or predator pursuit with 16" barrel. I've found the coyote carbine in stock for $960 shipped. The predator pursuit I've found for $930 but it isn't in stock right now. And I'm thinking the price might go back up when the get it in stock. Wondering if I should wait until the predator is in stock or go with the coyote carbine.

You will be pleased with either one, but my Predator Pursuit 16" is my absolute favorite gun - and I own several!
 
Coyote Carbine is already threaded for the suppressor that you know you want to add anyway. I have the 20" Rifle and love it.
 
Ok thanks for the advice. I was really leaning toward the Predator for the stainless barrel, I might just wait a week or 2 and if its not in stock I'll get the Coyote.
 
I have a pred pursuit 20" excellent gun... shoots great but its heavy for a calling rifle.

My buddy has the coyote 16" and it shoots clover leaf groups at 100 yrds with factory ammo the 1 - 9 twist loves the 40gr v-maxs.

I wished i would have went with the coyote it really feels nice when you shoulder it.

accuracy wise i dont think you can go wrong either way.
 
I had a Predator Pursuit with a 20" barrel. It shot between 1/2 to 3/4" groups at a hundred consistently. I decided to buy another AR and went with the Coyote Carbine. It actually averages under 1/2" groups which really surprised me. the Pursuit was heavy to carry when I was doing much walking and calling. I ended up selling the Pursuit upper and buying a WOA 204 upper.
 
I was just going over the same thing a month ago. I wanted either a RR Predator Pursuit or a Coyote Carbine. I ended up buying a Rock Rivers ATH in an 18 inch barrel. It will be in tomorrow and then as soon as I can I'm sighting it in.
 
For what it's worth, I sold a Stag 16" Carbine last year and bought a 20" RRA Pred. Pursuit. The Stag was shooting great, but I wanted all the upgrades that were on the RRA. The RRA Pred. would shoot really tight groups and I loved the trigger. Also, the fit and finish seemed to be a little better. Problem was the 20" heavy bbl. is too heavy and too long for the type of hunting I do here in KY. Being 59, weight is certainly an issue. I also prefer the A2 buttstock. So, I ordered a 16" RRA Coyote Carbine upper last month from JoeBobs. It shoots great. Has a 1 in 9 twist rate. The 20" uppers is for sale. Hunting coyotes, the stainless bbl. can be a problem. I always tape the stainless w/ camo tape or paint it. Love the 16" Coyote Carbine upper.

What are you asking for your 20" upper? I may be interested. I was actually thinking of going with a 20" barrel, I don't think i'd mind the extra weight for the type of hunting and shooting I'll be doing.
 
I would buy another 20" Predator pursuit in a heartbeat. My kid has a 20" Coyote that he would buy another also. If you can wait get the PP otherwise buy the Coyote, neither will let you down.----Riflemann
 
I will jump in with my experience...
I purchased a 24' bull brl as a p dog rig. Shoots great. Weighs a ton.
Wanting something lighter to carry around I sprung for the Coyote Carbine last week.
One quick trip to the range and I have bullet holes touching with 55 grain ammo. 40's were great but not quite as good. All with factory ammo. I am very pleased.
 
Update to my other post.

My Rock River ATH I got is shooting great right out of the box.

I first laser bore sighted it at 50 yards then sight it in at 50 yards with only 3 shots. I moved the target to 100 yards and had a prefect 3 shot group right dead center bullseye. I moved it to 200 yards and put 5 shots inside a quarter size circle.

I love the gun.
 
Mark Twain said "Too clever is dumb." Get the Coyote carbine. It does everything you want for less money than pretty much anything else, and it is an absolute JOY to pack around. I've had 4 ARs. Dirt cheap, to, stupid spendy, the RRA Coyote Carbine is the one I keep around, and will continue to use. I took a huge doe and an OK ish buck, plus a ton of gophers, and several coyotes with it this year. Shoots anything from 40gr to 60gr pills to minute-of-yote/deer with heavys, or minute-of-gopher with 55gr Hornady v-max. Easily the most useful rifle I own. It's not tough to get fancier, but good luck finding anything more useful!

I have both: 20" 1:9 Coyote, 16" 1:8 PP - love both. Coyote easier to carry. Both equally accurate out to 300 yds for 52-55 gr. However the 16" PP is somewhat better with 68-69 gr than the Coyote at 300 yds..

How much weight would I save by going to the 16" Coyote Carbine?

The RRA catalog says 16" Coyote Carbine weighs 7.0 pounds. They list the 20" Predator Pursuit at 8.1 pounds. Is this about right?

Yup, that sounds about right. We weighed mine and my buddies 20in PP (uppers only), the difference was about a pound, but optics and mounts were slightly different.

I just bought a RRA R3 with a slightly shorter TRO handguard. Had considered the ATH but wanted the fluted barrel and the muzzle break on this one. Posted it earlier under RRA fabulous. Shot 1/2 group at 100yds. with 55 gr. psp made commercialy by the guyI bought it from. Already had one 18" rifle and wanted another. A little heavier than the carbine but I like the 18" mid gas system rifles. Good compromise between a heavier 20" and a slightly lighter 16". Only about a 1/2 lb. heavier.
 
I have the RRA Coyote Carbine, 18" PP, 18" ATH, 16" Varmint and 24" Varmint, as well as 2 other LAR-15's. All are very accurate, all shoot better than RRA's accuracy guarantee. If I could only keep one, it would be the Coyote Carbine. I have shot literally thousands of FMJ's in tactical classes, both as a student and instructor, as well as killing several coyotes (often running), crows, PD's etc. with it. It has great balance, is light weight, has a superb trigger and with the six position Operator lower, is a favorite of my 9 and 11 yr. old grandsons. It has carried a Leupold VX-II 3x9x40 since I got it and I have never had to change anything since I Locktited it on. It shoots the PMC & Federal 55gr.FMJ's to the same POA as Hornady 55gr.PSP's (at least to 300 yds.) It will be one of the last rifles I ever part with. That said,and as previously mentioned, you can't go wrong with any of them. Second choice would be the PP, since it has a more hand friendly forearm than the ATH (at least w/o rail fillers).
