Rock River Varmint or a Predator Pursuit

Looking for opinions on each. It'll be used mainly for coyotes. Lots of walking involved where I can hunt. Been thinking about the 18" varmint, but maybe a predator pursuit would be better to carry long distances. Thanks

You will gain nothing buying the Varmint over the PP. The PP will be lighter and shoot just as good or better.

I would go 16 inch if you plan on doing a lot of walking as you indicated. I have owned both.

^I second this

Last year about this time I was agonizing over which evil black rifle to buy and finally settled on the Stag Arms 3G rifle. I love the Samson Evolution handguard and rifle length gas system, not to mention the incredibly sweet Geissele trigger!
Most any of 'em will get the job done, but no sense in buying one and then forking out good money to change stuff on a factory rifle. Better off buying it like you want it to begin with, or build one to suit your tastes

Defiantly agree with the last posts!!! It's defiantly worth your time to put pencil to paper and figure what it is you want in a AR.... Work the numbers and the options/components and you will find that to build is the answer.. Stag basically put together the 3G = 3 gun. With the components that a majority of AR owners eventually upgrade to... Build baby Build!! Don't comply to the company built AR.. Pick the components YOU WANT!!! Not what you will ultimately replace...

I can tell you that the PP would be lighter. I have a pp in 20in and a buddy has the varmint in the same barrel length. He will only carry his when we are only going to be walking a short distance and complains everytime he does carry it. I have no problem carrying mine on long hikes back into the middle of the section. The accuracy is almost the same.

I was told by a RRA dealer that the only difference between the two was from just behind the gas block forward. The rifles are identical between the butt-plate and the gas block.

Look for a MMR AR15, 20" bbl (Mossberg) put a good trigger spring kit (JP) in it and you will be at least $400 ahead of the game, as accurate, & lighter than the RRA AR15s.

I just got my Rock River ATH Carbine and its a great shooting gun with 18" barrel. Shoots sub moa easily and I haven't pricked around with it much yet. Just throwing that out there. Anything Rock River, you can't go wrong.
