Rounds not ejecting. What's with it??

Alright so I have had my Savage Model 12FLV 22-250 for about 2 months now(i think) and the rounds don't eject like they should. When you pull the bolt back the just fall into the magizine. Sometimes they will pop out when the bolt it moved rearward most of the time not. I have tried cycling the bolt slow, fast and inbetween and nothing seems to help.

Any idea what is the problem or a fix for the problem??

P.S. "i know the Remington guys will say that what ya get when you buy a Savage" or something along those lines and I would personally not like to hear it.

But any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
I'm not a Savage rifle guy, but I'll give it a shot knowing if I mess up someone will sort it out. Sounds like ejector or extractor troubles. From your description I'd look at the ejector first I think. Put a drop of Kroil or light gun oil on that button in the bolt face and use a brass punch to work it some (it is spring loaded) to see if it is corroded or has some grit gumming up the works. I guess it is possible the spring could be broken, though I've never personally seen that happen. Usually there is rust or so much gunk and grit it ties up the ejector not allowing it to work properly. I had a NIB Remington that got a piece of foam packing stuck in the ejector hole causing trouble until I dug it out. If not that then the extractor tension might not be correct.
 
When I bought my savage predator, it wouldn't toss the brass out nearly as well as my savage model 16. There is a small pin that holds the ejector in. I uses a piece of a paper clip as a punch. Placing my thumb over the end of the bolt face while pulling the pin out. Pull the spring out and give it a bit of a stretch and I'd bet problem will be solved.
 
One way to check your ejector/extractor is to remove the bolt and insert a fired cartridge w/rim under extractor. Now push the cartridge against the ejector so that the case head is flat against bolt face (this will compress the ejector spring). Cartridge should be held against bolt face by extractor; if it slips out, extractor is the problem. Now release the cartridge and the ejector should kick the cartridge out rather vigorously. If it does not, check ejector out as mentioned in previous posts.

Everyone is on point, I had to do this to my model 10 predator just a week ago. And now my 22-250 is sailing the rounds when they are ejected.
 
Had the same problem with my Remington 700 so its not just a savage issue. One again it was the extractor.
 
I know your talking about center fires but this is along the lines of extracting shells. I bought a savage mk11, it's a 22lr, shot remington bulk amo did not have any problems with extractions. bought winchester bulk 22lr as they were out of remingtons and extraction problems began to happen. found more remington amo and the extraction problem stopped.
it's possible it could be the amo. spike
 
I feel like it might be both the extractor and ejector. I tried removing the ejector but could not move the pin, but I feel like the ejector sping is stretched out too much becasue the rounds usually aren't ejecting at all so the spring may be too tight and pushing the round out of the extractor. Or maybe the ejector is fine and the extractor is not holding the round in. But i'm not sure.

Any other idea's from you guys (and gals)??
 
Take an eye loop and look at the extractors edge that & see if its worn. If its coming off the bolt before its ejected its still the extractor IMO.
If your ejector has good tension when you push down on it and it pops up its usually good to go. Take the bolt out and stick a case in it, h0old it upright and look at those 2 parts, bet the ejector wants to push it off the face.

YA!! when I take the bolt out and put a case in it it will hold and then when I press the round flat it will sometimes pop out of the extractor. For what I witness when I rack the bolt the springs may have too much pressure but I'm not sure.

I will take it back to the place (Scheels) I got it tomorrow and see what they can do about it, may also call Savage tomorrow and see what's up.
 
Alright so I took it back to the store that sold it to me and they are shipping it into Savage and said it should take 2-3 weeks for it to get back.
(Also the guy said he could swap it out for one of the rifles in the store but they didn't have any lefties anymore and that my $100 custom paintjob would be gone, I smirked because the paint job was done by me and a couple cans of Krylon)
