RRA ATH half-quad rail removal

I've seen this subject approached before but with sketchy answers, so I'll try once again. I own a RRA ATH with a rifle length RRA half-quad free float rail. I'm wanting to remove it, as it is one bulky/heavy freakin' rail (replacing with a Troy 11" Alpha rail). Wanting to know how hard to remove it is, and if any special tools are needed. The Troy hand guard should go on easily if I can just get the RRA half quad off. The RRA half quad is not a standard "pull the delta ring and pull it off" variety, so the often referred to Brownells video doesn't apply here. Thanks for any help.

Sendit: Called RRA. Answer(for anyone interested) is to loosen the two set screws and put the upper in an upper vise block. Then heat up the area around the barrel nut as it is lock-tighted on, while simultaneously torqing the rail with a strap wrench to unscrew. Fairly straight foward process. Good luck to all and thanks.

Answer to questions: Yes, the rifle length was ordered,on recommendation of the buisness I purchased through. No pics yet as I decided to let a smith do the work (I don't yet have all the tools I need)and don't have it back yet. Lastly, yes I will be selling the half quad. Will send an IM once I have it in hand. Thanks

Mine came off easy. Just loosen the screws and thread off. I went with a Clark Custom Carbon Fiber model. I didn't like the half quad either.

I got the rig back today and as soon as I can figure it out I'll post a pic. Any tricks to posting a pic on here? I see no way to add an attachment.

Finally got it. The RRA rifle length advanced half-quad is up for sell. Sorry for not returning PMs for a couple of weeks, but I'm fairly new to this forum/site and didn't realize I had folks sending me mail.

Good loking tube and I'd better it's uber light. Got a chance to shoot mine for the first time today and am pretty much diggin' it. Was just going through a lapping procedure and didn't shoot for accuracy, but it sure handles nice. Hopmann
