Ruger #1

My Hornet is always good for 1"x5 groups at 100yds. It does better on occasion, but I don't lose any sleep over the occasional flyer.

I own several Ruger SS rifles in both #1 and #3 configuration. They can be problematic at times, but with a little patience, tuning and load selection they can be made to shoot very well. The one that has given me the most fits has been a #1B in .257 Roberts. I have given up on the factory long throated barrel and am having it re-barreled with a Douglas premium as we speak. The forearms on some will require tuning and the Hick's forearm tuners are slick IMO. In addition I have #1B's in 6mm Remington, .25-06, .280 Remington, .300 Weatherby Magnum, as well as a #1S in .45-70

I am also fond of the discontinued #3's and have them in .45-70, .375 Winchester, and .44 Magnum. These rifles have killed a lot of deer and hogs over the years, as well as a few trophy black bear.

I just ordered a #1 in 22-250 from yankee artifacts. It should be here monday. Definetly will be mounting the scope the second it gets here and getting it bore sighted. Hopefully it comes early and I can shoot monday. If not I will be shooting bright and early tuesday morning.

sorry to hear your #1 isn't shooting very good
I have one and it shoots real good ,stock no mods.
There are some things I have heard of to get them shooting great look around you'll find em'
