Ruger 10/22 build?

I have a Ruger 10/22 with the factory heavy barrel that is not so accurate. I am thinking of replacing the barrel and stock. What brand barrel am I likely to get good accuracy from? Stock recommendations would also be appreciated.

Thanks.
Matt

I re did my Ruger 10/22 with all Kidd parts - had a totally new rifle - shot great - should have just bought it from Kidd guns outright. 10/22 upgrades are a dangerous road upon which to find yourself - very addicting!

LOL Most of the guys I know have 10,000+ stuck away and are shooting what they pick up along the way.

You wont be sorry for using KIDD components....especially the trigger groups. Voltquartzen is right up there with or maybe even better than KIDD. My advice to you is to start using cocaine. It is less addictive and much cheaper than the 10/22 addiction.

LGS was opening a shipment of CCI 40 gr STD on a counter next to the cash register, and guys were buying them pretty much out of the shipping crate for $10 per 100, and happy to get them...

+1 Green Mountain

I put one together using a Green mountain barrel and Voltquartzen trigger and one with a Shilen Select match barrel with Kidd trigger, bolt ect.. And I can't really say which one shoots better but the Green Mountain barrel was cheaper, next time I will go with another GM barrel

IDIOTS.

Oops ..... hope you weren't one of them.

I was at a LGS today and he had quite a bit of 22LR ammo. Had Standard Plus for $69.00 a brick. Not to bad a price considering.

I have a few of both and yep this is a less expensive option.

Never could get the accuracy I was hoping for out of my tricked out 10/22. Even after replacing every single part other than the reciever. What a waste of money that was. Replaced it with a stock Savage bolt action that was more accurate on the first day than the 10/22 ever was.

The CZ semi-auto looks interesting if I was ever going to get another semi-auto rifle.

Both of the stainless steel 10/22s I've had shot well from the factory, and very reliable.
Added a better trigger to current shooter, it really likes CCI STD 40gr, one ragged hole at 25 yards if I do my part.
Had a REM 597 that was also a good shooter but just not that reliable for feeding.
