Ruger 10/22 thread....PICS ADDED

Here's mine...pretty basic...stock except I got the VQ hammer and sear kit. I got the slide autolock part too, and should have just Dremeled my own, but oh well. It's got that $99 Nikon on it in 3x9 and it's FUN FUN FUN to shoot sage rats with. Yes that's the Krylon Harris I borrowed from my RRA.

I have a Silencerco Sparrow on the way and will get a threaded barrel soon.

I built a 10-22 a year or so ago. Hogue stock, GM barrel, buffer and a reworked DYI trigger job. Kinda like to ditch the Hogue and get a Tacticool stock for it. Got alot of help from EvilLurker in the build process. Had a bit of trouble with the GM barrel. All is well now and the little rifle shoots Wolf and Standard Plus real well. Sorry for no pics.
 
I will have my 10/22 done very soon. I have not shot anything in a while due to my work/family schedule. When I do go shoot, I think I will just relax and shoot my new 10/22. And maybe another of my rimfires that I haven't shot in over 30 years..........
 
I'd like to just get one that's wild looking. Forgive my ignorance here but u don't think I need anything internally done. Just a wild stock and a wild barrel.

Not to hijack but how are the green mountain barrels? Good? Bad?
 
Always liked Mannlicher stocks so just couldn't pass this one up.

Always been a marlin man myself. But I have kinda wanted a 10/22. Do they still make the .22 mag yet? Someone told me they didn't anymore.
 
I thought about a tacticool, but I've had nothing but bad luck with Boyd's and swore them off years ago. Truth is, they probably work just fine.

I still prefer the B&C, methinks. The Boyd's is painted wood. What is the sense of wood if it doesn't look good, cuz it sure isn't more stable than a carbon/fiberglass stock. It also weighs 1/4 lb. more than the B&C. More weight with less stability? Not me.

The $92 price tag of the tacticool is nice though. I think I could get by with one if I had to........

They had issues with the 10/22 mags and stopped making them. I believe it was feeding issues. They command a high price nowadays, and some say that theirs work just fine.....

Hmmm I know someone with a good functioning one, might have to wheel and deal.
 
Worth a shot. I most certainly would have bought a 22 mag if they still made them. Yet further denying myself the pleasure of cheap ammo.

I heard reports of cycling issues, and even a few cracked bolts. Obviously some design issues going on. I know the magnum receivers were made of steel, and LR receivers of aluminum. The bolts in the magnums were most assuredly heavier. Not sure if the actions just did not hold up to the higher pressures or what. With blowback type actions you have to get it just right. Too much weight, won't cycle. Not enough weight, and it won't withstand pressures.

Anyone here know any more of the 10/22 mag issues?
 
I've been eye balling a 10/22 USA shooting team model with the cool red, white, and blue skeleton stock. I really would like to have it, but they want an arm, leg, and 2 fingers for it.
 
2much one of the problems with the 22 mag,was bolt bounce and firing out of battery...i used to have a 10/44 carbine also that was a blast too shoot,,,i would buy another in a minute.
