For this reason, I'm glad they don't still make them......
Take a look at Magnum Research Magnumlite. They have some way nice 22 magnums in semi-auto. They are 10/22 magnums I think.

My 10/22 is pretty boring, but here's a strange one for you. I've only seen a couple of these .22's around. It takes down in 3 pieces and is about as accurate as it looks.

Here is mine, I converted it to a .17 Mach 2.

Shaw heavy barrel and bolt kit, Boyds SS Evolution laminate stock, Leepers 4-14 scope, polished trigger and sear.

This is my off the shelf target model. No mods what so ever. Hammer forged barrel and what I've always thought was a stainless receiver until I read a post above. I'll have to check it out tonight and report back.

It is a shooter, depending on what ammo you run. It seems to prefer basic Remington over the high dollar stuff. I took it out a couple months back because I hadn't shot it in over a year. I put a 50' .22 target at 50 yards and hit X on 7 out of 10, one 8 and a couple of "what the heck was that?" shots. I was happy.

It needs a trigger job badly, I just can't bring myself to plunk down 50% of the cost of the rifle for a trigger.

Its now wearing a new scope base, rings, and scope and i think its already been posted before but heres mine. Only internal upgrades are a VQ extractor, I wouldnt mind a trigger job but ive spent enough on this little gun.

Oh and the rings on the safety have been filled in blue as well. No pictures of any groups so far but it doesnt shoot too bad with Federal Game Shok, keeps minute of ground squirrel at 50 yards easily.

If i could I would like to add a few more blue highlights but i cant really match that color blue and get a durable finish. If it didnt cost so much a little leupold custom shop scope with blue splatter on it would be swweeettt

Yep that would be cool. The color blue you highlighted the lettering with would be close enough, I think. It reminds me of the blue on Shepherd scopes.....

My dad bought me one of those little "Bronco's" for my very first rifle in '70 for my 6th birthday. They also made one in .410 and I have been looking for one for the past 30 years to match the .22
