Ruger 10/22 thread....PICS ADDED

For you guys waiting on a trigger you missed what I think is the most important upgrade to a 10/22 and first on the list. It doesn't take much money. As already suggested just get a VQ hammer for $40 or so and go at it.

i have the plain-jane carbine - but, since someone already namechecked the rimfire guys - if you go there- look at the "roll your own" thread - that is the STOCK for me - for realz. i got the design down, just need a donor wood stock - the wife says i shouldnt mess with the only one i have....bosses orders you know.

Well, I got my B&C target/varmint stock. I can honestly say I made a good choice and I like everything about it.

That said, the inletting is not good, and it will require some of my time to get the barreled action to fit correctly

I think some who are not as "familiar" with rifles as myself, may actually send such a stock back. For me, it is just as easy, I guess, to bust out the Dremel tool and such. It will work out fine in the end, but I really would have preferred a better fit.

The barrel channel is nice and straight and so is the trigger/magazine cutout. The internals will require some work, however, and the barrel channel will have to be opened up slightly, and the pressure pads will need touched up, or sanded off completely.

Maybe I will take some pics of it.........

Well, I am now a bit irritated. I started whittling on it with the dremel just a tad, but I can now see the problem is not fixable. It will need to be sent back. I'm not happy.

The barrel channel is a tad off also, but not much.

This is the second B&C I've had problems with. The first one I was able to fix myself..........

Not my best pics, but they'll do..........

Green Mountin 18" fluted barrel with VQ cantilever base.
Richards Mirco fit that I ordered over sive and customized. It is a rollover varmint with a Cooper style forearm.
VQ/ Power trigger combo. Bought a bunch of parts and this worked the best.
10-22 Mag bolt handle and all the DIY bolt upgrades ext mag release.

Thanks.

Only ammo I have on hand right now is 40gr Mini Mags, Remington Target Rifle(Eley mfg.), and some cheap Remington Golden Bullet stuff.

I believe VQ recommends Mini Mags in my barrel.

I'm sure I'll pick up a few more them a try.......
