Well, we did. Follow my link above. So far, both the people that actually own one said the trigger was better than the stock 10/22, but not as nice as a good aftermarket setup.

We're not talking about the trigger housing, we're talking about the hammer/sear set.

I'd shoot it first and see if it was going to be okay or not.

well it's been quite a few years 7-8 back but I had handled a couple out of the box 10/22 Target models. They were good looking rifles. We were having informal 25 yard shoots on sundays back then with 7-12 guys showing up. I still have 5, 10/22's packed away.

the trigger pulls were the same as factory birch stocked blued models back then, accuracy was'nt there with Eley or Wolff standard match. Ruger may have went to a better chamber dimension and cleaned up the target models trigger since then.

Well, I don't own one, and haven't shot one, so I'm just relaying what the guys on Rimfirecentral say. I mentioned buying the PC hammer/sear as a set because they sell a sear with a setscrew tapped through it, and you can adjust it to take all that creep out. If you don't mind some pre-travel, the Ruger sear works pretty well (take 5 minutes and square it up/break the burr on a hard Arkansas stone and it will improve it).
For a trigger, Volquartsen sells a wider one with an overtravel screw, or you can tap the Ruger yourself.

This set:

Hammer and adjustable sear

And this trigger:

Volquartsen trigger

Is what I have in mine, with all the original Ruger springs.

There are other options, just dropping in a good hammer will make for a pretty nice trigger.

If you had a bunch of them and they all had a standard trigger, I guess they changed it since then. Sending out a "target" rifle with the kind of triggers I got on my carbines would be quite a joke on somebody.

I don;t have a trigger pull gauge, but my wife's carbine was at least 8 pounds out of the box. I checked a couple times to see if the safety was on while I was breaking it in.

well if any of ya decide to get bolt work done, pin the firing pin or have the bolt face squared Randy at CPC is good to go and does quality work.

I think he's doing rechambering and crowning of factory barrels, too. Highly recommended, I've never seen anyone that wasn't 100% satisfied.

it's been quite a few years back since he did my work. It was top notch with fast turn around.

Back then a brick of Wolf match target was under $30.00.

times have changed I guess.
