Ruger 220 Swift Deal

I have an buddy that has a 220 Swift Ruger the old tang safety with the red but pad and he is asking 400 and I think I might be able to get him down to 375. It has a heavy barrel and looks really clean with only a couple handling marks. He says that his brother has had it for years and years and has not put more than a hundred rounds through it. It looks good what do you think is this a smokin deal or not.

My 1975 Ruger M77 .220 was the most accurate out of the box factory rifle that I ever owned. Topped with a 12X Leupold this thing just would seem to always put 5 touching at 100 yards. Living in Houston at the time and having to take it to a pay to shoot shooting range I traded it off a couple of years later. Of all the guns that I traded away in my life this one is the one that I regret the most.

I hope you get this gun. If you dont want it, send me a PM. I will find room in my safe for it I assure you.

The only mystery in this deal is that his brother bought it from someone else years ago and claims that guy did not shoot it much either. Also he cannot tell me how it shoots! He just says that his brother would not have kept it if it did not shoot very good and that his brother is not a bench shooter so it has never really ben benched for accuracy. I don't have access to a bore scope.

At that price, buy & don't look back.

I sold mine earlier this year, but I regret it. The guy that bought it from me pestered me for it. He swore that he gonna keep it. Well, he sold it 2 months later & made a buck.

Mine loved H-380 & 55 grain Sierra BlitzKings.

Id take it at $375 also.
Load & shoot it, if it need to you can pop a new bbl on it, but I doubt it will need one. I had over 20k rounds through one just like it.

Well I went ahead and bought it. It is really clean and the bore looks great from what I can see. I have not shot it yet but I will report back when I do. I looked up the serial number and it was made in 1980, really it looks brand new except for a couple dings on the wood. I can't believe that it could be 30 years old and in that good of shape. I hope it shoots good. I will post the results.

Other than my old Remington 40XBR's my old Ruger tang safety 22-250 was the most accurate out of the box rifle ever owned. It only got better when I stuck a Canjar single set trigger on it. I really don't know why I ever sold it but I wish I had it right now. It was a sweet rifle.

I have a swift on a Remington 700 action...love the cartridge...you will too...may try and build another one on a Savage action...enjoy.
