One of my 220s has went all to [beeep], good excuse for me to put a new tube on it.

Barrel brands? I want a heavy profile and stainless prefer.

Want to keep.it a 220

I have quite a variety of aftermarket barrels and I can't say any of them are not a big improvement over a factory tube. With that said, one of my absolute most accurate barrels is a Hart 1-12 twist on my 40X chambered in 220 Swift. I believe Hart barrels still holds the records for most matches won in Bench rest comp. Just my 2 cents. I am sure this will turn into a Dodge, Ford, Chevy debate.

Almost all of the upper end barrels are going to cost you about $350ish then install. X-caliber being the exception but still a good barrel but cheaper for sure. There is always CBI and a barrel nut system. That will save you gunsmith fees. How much you want to spend?

Over 10 years ago when the barrel on my .220 Swift went south I took the gun to a gunsmith in Boise by the name of George Vais of Vais muzzle brake fame. He had built many a benchrest gun and according to him the two best barrels out there were Hart and Krieger. I asked him if he were building one for himself what would he choose and he said Krieger so that is what I went with. 28" long it just shoots amazing- as it should.

I have a Hart barrel on my .223 AI and, as expected, it too shoots wonderfully well. There are so many good barrel makers out there now that it is not just Ford/Chevy any longer. Now it is Ford/Chevy/Toyota/Nissan/Studebaker/GMC/Jeep.......etc.

Get what you think will make you happy. Chances are it will.

And good going with deciding to keep it a Swift. It's good to be the king.

Well, here is what I did when my last gun was getting bit weak in the tube. I just sent the barrelled action (by mail) here http://www.ershawbarrels.com/ and had them put one of their barrels on it. First give them a call (great guys) and tell them what you have now and what you might want to replace it with. If you want the same contour barrel so that it will drop right in your existing stock they will do it.

The one they did for me was .221 Fireball on a CZ 527 action. I had the barrel dimensions duplicate that of the varmint weight CZ barrels because I had a stock ready to go so I figures why not.

For $400 something I dont think that you will do any better for your money. And what shooters! Just last Wednesday I took a hapless little ground squirrel at 307 yards with that Furball. Never got one that far with factory barrel in all the years I ownded it. I am a happy boy.

Give them a call and see what they will do for you.
