David, I was going to say something about the guys and your "BS" target, but I'd figured I would let you respond first.

Now that you have....

I've never met (6mm06)David, but I've known him here on PM a long time. If he said it happened it did !

I'm new here, but have been shooting for 50+ years. I can see that the Herter's bullets in the photo were purposely designed to cut clean sharp holes on paper even though the BC is somewhat compromised for it. 6mm06 David has gone out of his way to share his experience with this rifle and cartridge combination with us and hasn't given me any cause to doubt him. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience David.

That is an odd projectile!!!!! First time I've seen those. Thanks 6mm06. If a person keeps eyes and ears open and mouth shut you can usually learn something...

Yep, that's generally the best way. As a former teacher, I recognize that there are different learning styles. Would you believe that some actually learn with a foot in their mouth!

He he he.

Your education must have been lacking since apparently you didn't learn not to ever, ever be caught in a room full of naked virgins.

You must be a visual learner. That explains why a foot in your behind didn't work. You could feel it but couldn't see it.

Amazing what a little Internet searching can find. Here's some pretty good info about the Herter's ammo. I added it to the photos on the second page too. This is definitely an unusual bullet.

Read what fisherman66 says in the 4th paragraph. https://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3776751
"Oddest thing though. The bullet holes look like they were punched out with a hole punch. Cleanest edges I've ever seen"

well, I've learned that a hole punch can save me a lot of work in the reloading room when it comes to tightening groups, that Herter ammo loads an odd bullet that seems to function somewhat like a wad cutter & that when in a room full of young virgin females I'm only supposed to look into their eyes...

coming from someone who's not terribly familiar with shooting wadcutters, they still look like paper punches to me - but i've been wrong before.

having seen lots of trumped up sh!t on the net, wouldn't be the first time someone decided to fudge a target.

Yep, there's a lot to be learned here for sure. Maybe we all got a bit of education with this one, and some laughs too. The Herter's load is a unique one for sure. I know I learned something about it by reading, that it is supposed to be good for hogs. I would never have imagined that, with all that exposed lead on the end. My buddy said he would look for a more suitable hog load, but this one may be all he needs.

In situations like this what you're supposed to say is something like this... "Sorry 'bout that. My mistake..."

ok so i agreed that Quote:- those do look like hole punch cutouts, including the chads that sometimes leave in the holes.

its not like i called him a lying dirty butt-hole and kicked him in the shins.

it really was an honest opinion based on what i saw and things i've experienced. nothing more, nothing less.

i kinda figured i'd covered the i'm sorry part with "i've been wrong before". i didnt try to twist it or back it up with some extra BS.

but if it makes you feel better - please allow me to clarify - yes, my bad, sorry about the confusion 6mm06. learn something new every day. thank you for clarifying things. the education is appreciated.

You are welcome Plant One. Apology accepted, but it's not supposed to make GC feel better, it's supposed to make you feel better for doing the right and honorable thing. You are right that we all make mistakes. I know I do. How we handle them is what makes a difference.

Tell you what, I assume you can legally order ammo. If you like, purchase a box of those Herter's rounds (SPCE) from Cabela's or some cheaper source if you can find it. Cabela's has them in either .308 or 30-06. Send me a copy of the invoice and I will reimburse you for the ammo. That way you can try it for yourself. We can be friends either way.
