Ruger American mag issue

How about the position and angle of the follower? This was the problem with my 223 and from what I can tell the usual cause for the mag problens
 
It looks exactly the same. I know something must be different but I can't find it. I just hope it keeps working. A friend has a American Compact like mine except his is in .308. He came over and shot on my range today and it worked fine and shot very good. For a relatively cheap rifle they seem accurate. The 18 inch barrel don't seem to be much of a disadvantage. If the mag holds up I am happy.

I purchased a ruger american compact in .223 specifically to throw on the four wheeler and never have to take it off. I was surprised in how accurate the little rifle was. and it loves 75 grain bullets. factory loaded ammo will shoot 1" or a little better @ 100 yards with a 7x scope. I have no complaints for a $300 rifle, oh and no mag issues for me. only about 75 rounds through it so far though. For me it suits the purpose of "4 wheeler gun" just fine!
 
I have a stainless full size 223 and it has run flawless since the day I got it. I personally cant do anything more than a 1 1/2 pound trigger, so I didn't even fire it for group until I installed a Timney. I have shot some 3/4" groups with 69 grain SMK's 26.0 grains of 748. These were not "tuned" to the rifle either...just a favorite of mine that works good in everything else. No complaints for a cost effective rifle that I don't worry about throwing around on the 4 wheeler. Only thing I would change is the barrel...why do all the gun makers insist I only need 22 inches when I really want 26 or 28????
I would have seriously bought a Super America or a Custom Select Kimber in 223, but why pay all that money to not get what you want...I can just go ahead and not get what I want with a $350.00 Ruger.
 
I have an American Predator in .223, and have had zero problems with it. I shoot factory Winchester 40 grain Varmint X, and they group sub 3/4" at 100 yards. Have probably 350+ rounds through it, and I have never had a feed issue with it at all. Maybe I got it after the problem was fixed, since I just bought mine this past March. Just got back from a P Dog shoot in Valentine this weekend, and it was awesome.
