Ruger Mini 14

Forget the minis! I would take a AK in that case.

I'll keep the Savage Edge for my truck gun. For one I know I will hit what I'm aiming at. Plus know where near the price of a mini!

I never really liked the mini. Innacurate past 60 yards. If all you need is self defense, get the marlin model 1894 cowboy in 44mag. Hammers everything from yotes to panther. If it's just for hunting coyote, don't go with a cannon like that.

So it's accurate at 50 yards and not accurate at 70 yards???

I think my Mini is accurate at 73 yards

Had one, was fun to shoot, but not very accurate. extractor broke, so I put in a new one and got rid of it. not reliable in my book. now have a couple of ar's, no problems at all.

If all else fails, the .50 beowulf is accurate reliable and pretty dang powerful. Not shot a yote with one yet but they sure do a number on hogs. Note to self: more gun is more fun!

My response was in agreement with GCs point, that if something does break, you pretty much have to send it in to get fixed, in my neck of the woods not many folks work on MINI 14s, and the parts are not available for purchase.
and when you do so, everything you have done to make it a better shooter, will be time and money wasted.

these are drawbacks for the mini. Not so much for other rifles as some basic repairs can be done by your local gunsmith.

Maybe My post wasnt so clear, I hope this makes more sense.

Also I do pray that you dont communicate with others in your day to day affairs as you do online. Your attitude for the most part in My opinion is "Lame"

For whatever it is worth I understood your point. Catshooter hasn't had any cats in the crosshair for awhile and it is showing. He is having a catastrophic meltdown...

Ive shot quite a few Mini 14s and have yet to see one that was any real sort of accurate. Fired everytime, but 100yds was pray while you shot. My own was maybe 4" groups at 100yds, that was many years ago, then I sold it.
In the mid 1970s I shot them in the USAF. They had them in full auto. They were fun to shot at the ranges, pull, point & spray the targets & hope you hit!.
That said, Ive not shot one since the late 1990s though.
