Ruger Predator 6mm creedmoor

I have one in 6.5 creedmoor and 204, and they are both deadly. I have bedded and free floated both as the stock was touching the barrel on the left side when I got them.

I will say mine are the older ones with the rotary mags and I might like those better than the newer box magazine ones I've seen.

Seems like the stock touching the left side of the barrel is pretty common with the RAR's.Mine did to and several I've looked at had the same issue. A Boyd's stock is a cheap easy fix.

Depends on the individual. Wasn't for me. They are budget guns, you don't get many frills.

How did bedding the plastic stock work out? I have been wanting to try it but heard that bedding compound would not adhere to the stock properly.

My Ruger American is one of my favorite guns. Just keep in mind what it is, a $400 budget rifle. The accuracy is about .75 MOA in mine. The stock rubs hard enough on the left side to have rubbed the bluing off. The trigger is acceptable and predictable but not what I would call good. The magazines, I have four, and all of them work as designed. The action sounded like old corduroy pants for the first several hundred rounds due to machine marks on the bolt, but has worn in nicely after a couple thousand rounds. It sounds like a pile of negatives, but the gun always hits what I aim at, and cannot be improved upon for less than a small pile of money. Sometimes I think I will replace the barrel with a nice custom, or have McMillan build a hunter stock for it, or even build a full custom on a Rem model 7 action. But then it seems pointless to replace something that works as well as it does.

Bedding worked out ok, I gouged it out in a bunch of spots to give it something to grip to and used some ancient acraglas gel I had. Another weird thing is that it uses up a bunch of the scopes windage to get zeroed. I think that and the barrel touching the left side go hand in hand possibly. I used signature rings and used offset rings sideways to compensate.

No they are far from perfect, but they are plenty good enough for a utility rifle and I haven't seen one yet that shot poorly in 4 examples personally and rarely read of a bad one.

I bought one in 6.5 and love it. Sets in my truck so if it gets stolen I’m not out much. It’s accuracy is awesome and only took 3 loads to find the one I wanted.

I have the 6.5 ruger American shooting handloads Berger 140 Vlds, I put a muzzle break on it and can watch the impact on gongs out to 800, It’s outstanding for a 400 dollar gun.

I had one and I cleaned out some plastic in the bedding block and filed the left side out. It shot good after that! Trigger was ok. Good rifle for the price. Rudy

I started out with a compact .243 for my daughter. I liked hers so well I bought a predator .308win. After that I bought a 22mag ruger American. Then I bought a .243 ruger predator. I have several custom barrels on rem700's .. as posted earlier the ruger American's are inexpensive but a great value and I have no remorse of having any of them. They are a great hunting rifle! Trigger, stock, action "Could be" better but they are $400 +/-.. They work great for intended purpose.
