Ruger ranch rifle?

You can do a search and find some info but from what's been said they are very reliable, accuracy isn't the best in the world, and you could get a more accurate AR for just a little more money.
 
It is not reasonably priced. You can find a much more accurate AR for less.

This topic has been beat to death. A search will turn up thousands of posts about the mini.

Get an AR platform.. I have had 2 mini's. One was the old model and 1 was the supposed new tolerance version. IMHO you can due alot better. 1 rifle grouped no better than 3" @ 100yds the other could shoot 1 - 1 1/2" sometimes with match ammo. And I mean sometimes, like 1 out of 10 groups... the democrats can have that one. Funny thing is, that I sold both for what I paid for them..
 
Do you want to shoot a lot of cheap ammo? Get a mini. The AR I had for a short time was finiky. Now my mini on the other hand, it eats anything.
 
I have 2 of them right now. As people have stated, they're lacking in the accuracy department, and by the time you have put the money and effort into getting it to shoot, you could have bought an AR and an extra upper.
If you were in Oregon, I'd sell you my blue one right now for $500 and throw in some accesories
But they are light, reliable and handy, I'll give them that.
I also have a stainess Ranch model and it would be a usable coyote rifle if you limited yourself to 75 yard shots.
 
I'm not going to be one of the Mini Bashers.

Read the name....Ruger RANCH Rifle. Ruger has admitted (more than once) that their thoughts with the Mini was to create a rifle for ranchers and other outdoors workers that could be carried in a scabbard, thrown in a truck bed, ride on a bouncy ATV, and then come out shooting. They have NEVER (until the introduction of the "Target" model) touted the Mini as an overly accurate platform.

If you're going to carry it around your "Ranch" in a scabbard and use it appropriately, it's a great little gun.

If you're looking for anything else, it won't fit the bill.
 
I have had three or four of them over the years have not found one I could live with. Finally broke down and built an AR. Much better, still have the first one and am building another one. I sold off every one of the mini's with in a year.
 
Rifles that are not accurate hold my attention for like.....three seconds. My mini/Ranch/POS 14 could not have left my possession quickly enough.
Somewhere Bill Ruger must be turning in the ground over that one.
 
I bought one. Paid $350 for it. That's a whoppin' lot less than any AR rifle I ever bought.

Part of the reason I bought it was that my state decided to ban the Ranch rifle with the Ruger folding stock (which I like)... so as a protest, I bought it, and the folding stock the day before the ban took effect - my "vote" against my stupid state.

The other reason is that my state has, in it's infinite wisdom, decided that you cannot use a "military" style rifle in the field for hunting. So I can't use an AR for 'yotes.

My Ranch rifle runs between 1.5" and 2" with a 4x scope at 100yds with decent ammo.

For what I use it for, that's more than fine.

As Higgy said, it's a "Ranch Rifle"... it takes a beatin' and keeps on shooting.

I, like others, have heard and seen the accuracy problems with the mini. Check out the bargin bin rifles on CMMG.com. They have some "gently used" ARs for around $570. There are tons of reviews on these they are all excellent! For the moeny I would rather go with one of these than a mini 14!

Hidalgo is 100% right.
I really dont like either, AR or Mini, owned a few of both. Reading the posts I really doubt most of the mini bashers ever owned one or shot it.

so my opinion is; neither is worth owning or buying, but if I HAD to buy one or the other, I hate the mini less than the AR.

Kinda like voting in the up-coming election, I hate em all.

Great rifles, I USED to own one, very dependable and will really spit the lead as long as you don't care if you hit what you are aiming at. They can be accurized but that will cost you about twice what you can buy one for.
