Hold your thumb against the side of the cylinder and cock the hammer to the SA sear. If the cylinder locking bolt isn't locked by the time it catches, it is too slow. Then pull the trigger in DA mode. If it hasn't locked by the time the DA dear trips and the hammer falls, then it is too slow. Either condition is unsafe. At the other end, if the early trigger travel is tight, and the cylinder feels like it's trying to roll before the locking bolt has dropped, then it's too early. Then if the late trigger travel seems sticky and the bolt is raising very early before the DA seat breaks, it may be too fast and the pawl gets wedged against the frame window.
