i have had a hankering for one of these for a while. wondering how they shoot from some folks that have them? i like revolvers, but read that these are generally not that accurate. what do you guys think? chris
 
I have one with a 6 and a half inch barrel and it is very accurate. I carry it alot for snake protection and have no complaints.
 
I've got a couple and they shoot OK, fun to play with. It's nice you get LR or Magnum. If you want a really accurate revolver it's hard to beat the older S&W Model 17 or 18s. IMHO
 
I have had 2 single sixs. I regretted parting with the first one, so I had to get another. Neither were target pistols but both were up to the tasks I asked of them. Spent shotgun shells are not a problem to hit at 25 yards, and clay pigeons at 50 yards are no problem. Spent shotgun shells at 50 yards is a little more challenging for me.
 
Problem is, they have a larger bore to accombadate the 22WMR rounds, so naturally, the 22LR isn't as accurate.

Personally, I think the 22WMR's one of the best rounds ever, so that wouldn't be a problem for me..

Truth be told though, the 22LR's probably all anyone ever needs in a woods gun, and allot cheaper to shoot, so the S&W mentioned above's the better choice IMO.
FWIW, the only hand gun I own is a (6") 1946 K22.
But then, everyone's needs, likes, and accuracy requirements are different.

I bought mine used with only the .22lr cylinder. I love it. The 5 1/2 inch barrel is easy to point, its easy to carry, and puts a hurt on jack rabbits within about 35 yards. Thinking about sending it to ruger to get tje 22 mag cylinder fitted.

I have a 4 5/8" barrel on mine, to be truthful it is about the only handgun I can hit anything with. Mine has Houge grips and see's alot of shooting time.
 
The .22 LR cylinder is plenty accurate for any non-competetive shooting. I bought mine in 69 and it has fired many thousands of rounds without any decrease in accuracy.
The factory grips are a tad small and slick if you encounter any moisture, but I like them for low-profile and ease of carry. Women and kids tend to be deadly with the small six since it is easy to manage. If you like six-guns, it is a real keeper. The adjustable sights are better for sight acquisition and correcting for any individual preferences. For the money, it is the best SA .22 you can buy IMO.
 
I've had one since '72, and it's plenty accurate with either cylinder for my uses. It's nice to have the option of using anything from CB shorts to high velocity LR in one cylinder, and have the power of the 22 Mag with the other.
 
I bought mine as soon as I was old enough to buy a pistol. It has seen thousands of 22LR rounds and less than a dozen 22WMR's in it. I would say it is every bit as accurate as my MKII target model when both are shot open sights, just not as fun.
 
if I could justify getting another single six, It would be the hunter, dang nice little revolver, good balance good sights and the fact itll take scope mounts is a plus.

Bad thing is the price, little spendy
 
I have the 22lr/mag. Accuracy is ok. Could be better. Still one of my favorite guns.

Not to hijack, but what are the little pellets left behind by the 22 mag? They get into every little nook and cranny and even make it hard to seat rounds in the cylinder sometimes.

Charlie makes a very good point here. Exactly what I was going to say........
 
Get a 17hmr , you'll never regret it. The 22 mag has very little velocity gain
over a 22 long rifle in a pistol barrel. Smith quit building them in the 90's
for that reason. Demand has brought them back I believe.
 
I've had a Single six since childhood it is my favorite handgun. Mine came with both cylinders .22 and .22mag. they both shoot well.

That might not be a problem. The American Rifleman just tested a change cylinder pistol(not a Ruger). It shot the LR more accurately than the mag.
