I preordered a new Ruger AR556 MPR

Anyone have any experience with one yet?

I like the features. For $559 and free shipping I had to try it out.

If they shoot well and they roll one out in 6.8 I will be all over it.

What are your thoughts on these?

No hands on experience, but I grabbed one of the standard AR556 and it has been 100% reliable and far more accurate than it should be. Out of the box with a 3-9 it groups a variety of handloads 1 moa or slightly under.
 
No experience, but i want one. Great price too. I like Ruger lately with the American Ranch rifles, 1911s, and now these.
 
Yes I agree Ruger has been stepping up their game. If they manage to get these rifles shooting in the arena with say the RRA predator pursuit line then they won't be able to keep them on the shelves hunters everywhere will snatch them up. 18" "match" barrel with a rifle length gas system it's got potential in my opinion.
 
that looks like ALOT of gun for the money, that gun for under $600?!?! I think your going to see this alot more often. gone are the days of having to spend 11-1200 for a rifle like that. I don't buy factory guns anymore but if I did I probably would try one.
 
I'm interested in one as well....Hopefully the 4.5 lb trigger is as good as it sounds.

I don't think a person could build one for that price.
 
Tbone let me know how your trigger is. My buddy said his is decent but it not as good as some of the aftermarket options. He hasn't shot his yet but initial impressions are quite good. I agree I don't think you could build one up for this kind of money. Mine hasn't arrived yet.
 
Took it out yesterday and shot it after cleaning up the generous factory oiling. That trigger is nice! It shoots 100 yard 1.5" groups with cheap-o 55fmj ammo. I'm sure it will do better with some good ammo.
 
Thanks for the follow up T. I took delivery of mine today. Trigger is good not as good as most after market triggers. It is better than a RRA in my opinion. Initial impressions are good. Be a bit before I get a scope mounted but I think it will make a nice little yote slayer.
