I'm right in the middle of a Rustoleum job for my middle son's AR. I have the base coat done in dark earth and will be doing a sponge job when I put it together.
I just got back from Manard's and all they had was Rustoleum products. I had my heart set on Krylon but I havent used ether of them. If Walmart doesnt have Krylon I will be giving Rustoleum a try.
First pic is the base coat (earth brown). I had stripped the rifle all the way down, stripped off the duracoat I had on there previously and then hit everything with the base coat. This pic is just after reassembly.
Next I sprayed some paint into a jar and then used a piece of natural sponge to make it look muddy.
Tonight when I get home I'm going to thin some of the "mud" out so it looks more watery and do some back fill.
I didn't paint the bipod because it's only on this gun when shooting groups over a bench. It's primary purpose is as a coyote gun and my son uses a taller unit for that.
