S&W Shield ankle holsters and inside waisteband?

What good ankle hosters are out there for S&W Shield? I've never worn an ankle hoster and would like some recomendations. I wear 10" pull on engineer boots or 8" lace up boots.

I was just at the store playing around with an Uncle Mike's ankle holster and I wasn't too impressed and I had a bad experience with a shoulder holster of theirs so I decided to look around. If the holster could also fit a double stack the size of a Sig P250sc that would be great too.

I would also like some recomendations about an inside the waistband holster that could carry an extra magazine. I would like one that works well being carried behind the back.

I just got this one yesterday and I like it very much. With jeans and an untucked t-shirt it well concealed in the 7/8 o'clock position (4\5 on a righty).

Can you give more specifics about this IWB holster? Looks like it's for a lefty, which I am. I'm in the market for one.

It is a kydex holster with a 10 degree cant. I got this one on ebay for a buy it now price of $40. I highly recommend it from what I have seen so far (but like I said I just got it.) It is very comfortable.

I wanted to go with the PJhoster but it was going to be a 8-9 week wait.

Any specifics on brand/manufacturer? Is it a lefty holster?

My 40 Shield rides in a DeSantis ankle holster most of the time. I have had it on my leg for over 14 hours at a time and you don't even know it is there. I like the fit and the thumb break holds it in the holster firmly. I wear 6" work boots or regular tennis shoes most of the time, once in awhile I have my 9" loggers on and the holster fits for all my footwear.

I think DeSantis will be the first ankle holster I buy, they are just what I was looking for. Did yours come with a calf strap?

I have never worn an ankle holster but that seems like a lot to have on your leg, and a tight fit to cover with normal boot cut wrangler jeans.

It also does not seem to be a quick access either.

Rock Knocker, Yes it comes with the calf strap, it is Velcro, and I bought it off Midway, I seen they had them instock about a week ago still. I have had this holster since Dec. of 2012.

Yellowhammer, it is not going to be the quickest access, but it is with me all the time if things were ever to go south. I also wear nothing but Wrangler carpenter jeans and the gun doesn't print through the jeans.

When I first strapped this gun on my ankle it seamed weird, but within about 15-30 minutes I was used to it and soon after you forget it is even on your leg. I wear the ankle holster over a pair of wool boot socks that I wear year round (I have never had sweaty feet)

There are times when I don't wear the ankle holster with my 40 Shield, I use a BlackHawk #4 pocket holster, or a DeSantis leather thumb break hip holster. It just depends on what I am wearing , on which holster I use, but the ankle rig is the best for me, people don't seem to look at my legs.

The gun itself falls right into my engineer boot, wont be any problem hiding once I get a holster. I am not worried about the weight eather. I've been working out a bit for the last couple years and my legs have turned into little bulldozers and I've seen smaller guys carry larger guns on their ankles.

For in the waist band take a look at the MIC holster. I didn't think I would like it, but after I tried it I was hooked for iwb. I carry at about 3:30 of 4 and my wife never can tell. I also have a owb zero concealment systems holster that is very comfortable but my wife can also spot it at some point during the day. Good luck on the hunt. Only took me about 8 holster to find the two I liked, hope you find yours quicker than I did.

If you haven't ordered your ankle holster yet, I would encourage you to look at Ken Null's website. I have owned and worn a wide variety of ankle holsters thru the years, as a back-up to my duty weapon. Ken's holster is the best by far. I had him to make the Velcro strap a little longer to fit around my duty boots. His holsters don't have a thumb break, or retaining device, don't need it with his design. I've carried a S&W 642 for over 15 years in the holster, and it still works fine. I'm now carrying a Ruger LC9, also in one of his holsters. I've had other holsters completely fall off my leg, and lost my gun and holster in the woods, and had to retrack and find them. I don't think there is a better ankle holster made, than the Null holster.

Thanks for the help.

I looked at the Null holsters and they seem very nice. I hope to be buying my first house at the end of the month, unfortunately I can't spend the money on one right now. I book marked the page. I'm sure I will end up with one soon or later.

Those MIC holster seems very interesting! For the price its got to be worth trying out.

I don't mean to derail this too much, but its my own topic so what the heck.

Any suggestions on a gun belt or any good belt? What are you wearing for a small hangun and an extra mag or two? I would prefer leather but some of them say they are 1/4" thick leather, that seems like a lot.
