SAD NEWS...........Premier Reticle

Just heard the news today that Premier is closing or has already closed their doors. This is sad news. I hope it isn't true. I am looking to build a 1000 yd. rifle and was considering one of their scopes. But with this information, I am concerned about purchasing a scope and not being able to have warranty work done if needed.

I drove by their facility two Fridays ago and thought it was strange that the building parking lot was empty.

This exact thing popped up a month ago on another forum and was
denied. You are talking about Thanksgiving weekend ya know. You might
want to do a little checking before starting rumors on this board.

I have done some checking. I was talking to our sales person about setting up a tour of their facility and that is how I found out. I work for the company that manufactures the corrugated boxes that their scopes ship in. I thought it was strange that we have not had any orders from them and our sales person confirmed why.

I sure would like to know if there's any truth to these rumors.
A buddy and I were about to drop a bunch of $$ on a couple of PH scopes a couple of months ago.

I saw a post on another site from the owner of PR. He said they were going through some "changes" and he would let everybody know when everything was done.
I've also (recently) had friends in the shooting industry tell me to stay away from Premier.
Their PH 5-25 is one of the nicest scopes I've ever seen. I sure hope they get things sorted out.

I am definitely NOT trying to bash PR. I think they build a top notch quality product. I would love to own one of their scopes one day. And I still might. I posted this to inform other members.

If I am wrong I will eat crow and offer a public apology.

Dave,
I'm not trying to bash anybody either.
If some travel plans had worked out a month ago I would be the proud owner of a PR scope right now, but my buddy had to cancel and I didn't make the long drive by myself.
I'd hate to drop some big $$, and then have no warranty or service on a scope.

Schmidt and Bender has been in business for 50-some years. I think I might just go that route.

I know you are not FW. I just want to be clear that I'm not either. I hope I am wrong but I do not think so. If I'm not mistaken, they have closed up shop before.

i think I might take a ride tomorrow to their shop.

dave

Dave, please let us know if you come up with any new info.
I'd love to have one of their scopes, but my confidence level is pretty low right now.

Will do FW. With my budget their scope is what I call a dream. but when I make up my mind I want something, I usually find a way to make it happen.

I would not have posted this if i did not feel my source was good. I respect the members here too much. Regret posting it now.

Yes, it is true they shutdown. I have a relative that worked for them, until the shutdown that is. He told me about being out of work back in Oct. I haven't seen any vehicles in their lot for quite sometime and I go past there atleast once a week.

I just called their phone number I have listed for warranty. Nobody answered. I will try again after lunch time to see if I can get anyone.

Thanks for the update guys. It's sad to see a good company like this shut down.. Even worse, more people out of work. i have a feeling they will be up and running again, hopefully sometime soon.

Dave

Well, while you washwomen are 'digging a grave' without ANY official or authorized statement from the company itself, I'll just keep on shootin' through mine...

Personally I do not think you will hear an official statement. But hey.... what do I know!!

Dave

So a well respected company known for producing some of the finest riflescopes on the planet AND who also happens to have a build & warranty contract with the United States Marine Corps just closed up shop without a whisper???

Not saying there can't be closed doors or empty parking lots in VA, but don't you think you are jumping the proverbial gun with a post based on heresay?

This is like National Enquirer type rubbish.

And IF it is true, how does it feel to have broken the story on the interweb (again)???
Do you get a prize, or something?

Thanks for nothing.

i've been watching this and i'm glad to know that the company is struggling. while it may exaserbate the problem by scaring people away from purchasing a PR i'd rather know before i made a purchase than after. if i found out after the fact there'd be more than 1 person on this thread with their panties in a bunch.
