Safety on or off

When you begin calling, do you keep your weapon on "safe", until you see a coyote, or is your safety off from the get go?

I ask, because my method has been to keep it on safe until I am ready to fire, but more than once this season I have had coyotes hear the safety "click", and turn around to leave. It has happened in past seasons, as well.

Off as soon as I get comfortable. Keep the booger hook off the bang switch and there won't be any issues. But its personal preference I suppose. Like carrying a concealed pistol with one chambered or not.....

Safety on on my ar's, until a coyote is spotted and I'm following it in the scope. I softened all the edges on the selector where the detent pin rides to make it quieter and can operate it slowly and quietly.

^^^^^^^I find a way to release safety slowly/quietly. Haven't spooked a coyote yet but I don't usually let them get that close.

On until I'm ready to shoot. It's funny this topic came up. I was about to start one just like it. For the first time ever I had a coyote run off because it heard the safety click last Sunday. I'll still keep it on though. That was a fluke thing that happened. I probably could have shot it had I not been in such thick cover although it never stopped once. If it would have gone 10 more steps into the clearing it was gonna get hammered.

I still have a few tricks up my sleeve. Next time it's gonna be a shotgun waiting on it.

Typically this. Back on safe as soon as the stand is called.

I keep the safety on until I first spot one. Most of my guns are pretty quiet or I've used them long enough to be able to release the safety silently. A loud snapping safety on a rifle doesn't get hunted save for the range where everyone has hearing protection on anyway.

I take my safety off as soon as I'm settled in and before I make my first call. Less movement, less sound, and one less thing to worry about or forget when it's time to shoot.

Safety on till the shot comes. Finger off till I am ready to fire and concealed always one in the tube. If I carry 1911, cocked and locked.

Safety on until you see the coyote is committed and you know the shot is going to happen. More than once I've had the safety off and a few minutes later realized did I didn't flip it back on with that said I try not to ever flip the safety off unless things are about to happen. Safety First!

Safety on till ready to shoot. I put ambi safeties on my AR's and grip between thumb and forefinger to put in fire position quietly. I'm left handed with a right hand gun.

My normal procedure is just to use my thumb and mash the lever over towards the receiver as I'm flipping it slowly and normally it's pretty quiet. It's at least quiet enough the critters won't hear it. It seems like some milspec triggers are loud and some quiet. I install them and sort out the quiet ones and use them in my primary hunting rifles.
