Sako 75 Hunter Feeding problems

Hi

I own a Sako 75 Hunter rifle in 22-250 that is giving me fits. Unlike the CZ clips where the cartridges are stacked vertically, the Sako cartridges are loaded into the clip almost side by side.

The problem I'm having is that only the cartridges loaded on the left side of the clip will feed properly.

I tried reducing the OAL to below 2.350", tried a more round nose bullet....even went out and bought some factory loads (gasp!!)to see if they would feed. No luck. The cases on the left side of the clip feed...the cases loaded on the right don't. The cartridges loaded on the right side of the clip veer sharply to the left and jams when the bolt is pushed forward.

As of now, I have a beautiful, tack driving Sako rifle with a custom McMillian stock.....that can only fire two shots.

Anyone have any suggestions???? Paint

Paintcan,

I'd contact Sako and see if they will send you a new magazine. (It's always best to ask before you spend your own hard earned $$ on replacement parts). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

What's the worst that could happen? They say no to a freebie fix and you end up paying for a new mag.

I don't own a Sako, maybe someday. But, I've read good things about their rifles and customer service.

Oh yeah almost forgot, make sure you only speak of factory ammo. Most gun manufacturer's get uptight when you mention reloads.

Just my .02

That is the very first feeding problem I have ever heard a Sako 75 come down with. It has got to be a defective clip, and Sako should be more than happy to replace it free of charge.

I would have to agree with Rich. Sounds like a defective mag. The lips on the mag maybe out of wack. I have a new Sako .223 with the 1 in 8 twist barrel. No problems with this one.

Yep.... maybe I dropped the clip one to many times. It worked great when I first got the rifle. I noticed the feeding problem while hunting coyotes in ND. At the time I thought my OAL was too long. Kim
