I just thought I would post here for any Arizona hunters thinking about predator hunting on the San Carlos Reservation in September.I had asked them about the fall lion hunt they had planned and they emailed back and said it hadn't been approved yet. They also mentioned in the email that there would be no predator hunting on the rez in the month of September. No reason was given and I emailed them back and asked how come?Could be there big elk hunts are going on and they don't want anything to screw up some big shots $35,000 elk hunt.Take care,daveyboy.P.s. just posted this where someone doesn't waste a drive there and find out there is no hunting the rez right now.Gas is too high for deadend driving.

Thanks Dave, I WAS planing on going up there this month. I'm still going to go but I guess I'll just stay off the rez. Interested?

Tony,I'm always interested in hunting. The only problem is I got lucky in the draw.I have a cow elk hunt and a deer hunt. And I'm also going up for bear in unit 1 on oct.7.
All these hunting trips are gonna cost me like a gazillion bucks in gas.But I'll tell you where I'm going up bear hunting and if you wanta try and get lucky come on up.I think the cowboy is going up also. But I got to warn you,we're going to be doing some brutal hiking to get where I want to call at /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif.If we get one heaven help us /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.Take care bro and let me know.dave

I was trying to forget about this years draw.lol

Bear don't do much for me so I probably won't take you up on it. Besides, that sounds too much like work. Thanks for the invite though. Good luck.

daveyboy - Went up for a few days for the August opener in unit 27. Called in two bears and several coyotes. One of the bears was entirely to small and the other one never presented a good shot. I camped in unit 1 and although I never saw a bear, in unit 1, I did see a lot of bear sign. I may head back up there again in Oct.

Kinda interesting about San Carlos, I don't believe that has been the policy in the past. If you are calling/hunting down low shouldn't have any effect on the elk hunters.

John, nice going with the bears /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif,it takes a little discipline to let a small one walk. But I would do the same. Last year up in unit 1 we heard a few wolves, sounded pretty cool.Hey,I know Clint is coming up there for the oct 7 opening. If you pm me I'll let you know how to get to our camp.Your more than welcome to come on up.I'll have my white gmc z-71 with a camper shell and a predatormasters sticker on it.I'll leave some hot orange stickers at camp that say hot item in case we're out and about.

I haven't heard back from the rez yet.But I know what you mean because the last 2 years I've been up there in September hunting.I'm just guessing about the elk hunting,I don't know what else it could be.Take care, daveyboy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif Ps.If you are coming up just pm and let me know and we'll be looking for you.

Spent three days at Point of Pines in Jul and 4 days in Aug, fishing was good and the beer stayed cold. Life sure is tough when your retired.

daveyboy - You got a PM
