You can for predators. Here it is off their web site.

PREDATORS

Daily Predator License $10/day

Habitat stamp required $5.00

Season open all year, except during the Trophy Elk Hunts.

The Department of Recreation and Wildlife defines bobcats, coyotes, and foxes as predators for their hunting permit system. Bobcats weigh between 12 and 30 pounds and live throughout the Reservation in rough and broken terrain. Bobcat’s principal preys are cottontail rabbits and jackrabbits. Bobcat’s become sexually mature at 2 years of age, gestation lasts almost 2 months, and the litter size is between 1 and 3 kittens. Coyotes weight between 17 and 25 pounds and can be found throughout the Reservation. They are opportunistic foragers and their diet includes insects, reptiles, birds, mammals, and some plants. Breeding usually occurs in mid-winder and coyotes have a 2 month gestation period. Gray fox live in broken and wooded terrain and weight between 5 and 9 pounds and like coyotes, are opportunistic foragers.

Predators can be hunted all year by both Tribal members and non-members. Non-members can purchase a hunting permit for $10.00/day (a habitat stamp is also required) and tribal members can hunt predators with their General Annual Hunting License (a habitat stamp is also required). Electronic calls are legal. Predator’s populations are not directly managed by the Department. We did not conduct questionnaires to predator hunters.

well only got two yotes it was not the best day by far but still alot of fun.The 6x45 worked very well but i have to get used to closing the bolt on my ar.

I just got back from a javelina hunt on the rez, and if you read all the information on their website, there is a discrepency as to the legality of electronic calls. In one place they say they are legal, in another they say illegal. So before I went I called and talked to one of their Officers, and he said that they are definitely Illegal!!

Well for several years the Predator Masters hunt was there and they always told us they were legal.

Venatic, at first I thought they were legal too, according to what I found under "Hunting Information" which is what reb8600 posted above, but then I read their hunting regulations, which said they were illegal. So I called and talked to them on the phone before I left, to make sure which information was accurate, and also to verify the restriction on magazine capacity. The officer told me that electronic callers used to be legal, but as of this year and moving forward they would be illegal. When I went to the rez G & F office when I arrived to purchase my predator license, the guys there told me the same thing, that they are illegal. They also confirmed that semi autos with no more than a 5 round capacity were legal.

That is the problem with the rez. You cannot get a straight and consistant answer out of them. The hunting regs says you can. They would have to honor that. Did you ask if they were legal for predators? You stated you were hunting Javelina. They may have thought you were asking about using it for them. I just sent an email to the director. We will see how he replies.

reb8600, What you are quoting is from "Hunting Information" on their website, not the actual regs. I too saw that, but looked deeper and read the actual regs, and they contained the following quote:

Reg 002 - TIME & METHODS

"M. Calling or attempting to call or attract wildlife with electronic calls is prohibited. SCRWD personnel shall be exempt from this regulation when in the performance of their official duties. (Changed back to no electronic calls because that is what is stated in the Ordinance 76-1)."

That's why I checked further, because I got conflicting information from their website, but I think that if they would honor one or the other statement, it would probably be the actual regs vs. just a mention under "Hunting Information". In any event I did specifically ask about predators, because I was hunting them as well as javelinas, so there was no confusion there. I just checked on their website, and when you click on "Regulations", nothing appears. I pulled what I posted above from the PDF of their 2009 regs I downloaded and saved prior to my hunt. I could send them to you via email, but I don't know how to post the whole file here.

I will post what they tell me when I get it. Usually the term "wildlife" does not apply to animals classified as "predators" which is what coyotes, fox and bobcats are. The website also states e-calls are legal for mountain lion.

That is where you are wrong. They don't have to honor anything you insist upon, even if it's written in a regulation book.

Case in point- The reservation annexed an additional 500 feet beyond their signs. The map showed I was on our side of the line by over 200 feet. Tribal police said it I that was in the wrong and it is my responsibility to know when they annex land. "How am I suppose do that I said?" He said "Your problem. Make some phone calls."

Not even reasonable but its their land and they make their laws and interpret their laws as they see fit. We are at their mercy when hunting on their land 100%.

Ok I received a reply from the director and they have changed the law on e-calls. Here is his reply I received last night.

"At this time you cannot use an electronic caller. There was a commission regulation that allowed it for a littlie while until it was discovered that it was against the Game & Fish Ordinance 76-1. We are working revising some sections of the ordinance and that is one of the proposed changes.

Harold Nofchissey, Director
San Carlos Recreation & Wildlife Department"
