My hunting partner has a Vet friend in from Oregon. They were trying to get him a North Carolina bear. I tried waiting for them but they were later than I thought getting where I was setup. I had two coyotes in the field at about 300 yds. and when they started moving away, I couldn't wait any longer. I gave them just enough Babe Cottontail to bring them running. Wind was switching and they got a whiff of me at about 100 yds. They turned to leave and I yelped the female to a stop and killed her DRT at 126 yds. The male bugged out, but I turned him around with Pup Distress 3 and he came back looking for a fight. I shot him at about 180 yds. I knew I had a good hold, but he didn't show much sign of being hit. I managed to get another one into him as he exited, and he finally dropped at 385 yds. from where I was. Long walk to him, but apparently the first shot hit him just inside the shoulder and came out behind the shoulder near enough to rip some holes in his heart. Second hit was one of the going away shots. I'll try to get video put together tomorrow. I still don't have the video from Thursday night yet. Here is the female I killed first.

I was expecting the male to get dropped with one of your running shots immediately after the "crunch" of the female. Thanks for the post Owen. Hopefully I will get out soon and get some action to post but am living vicariously through the posts on here.

Congrats to Jim and nice Pic.

Thanks Mike! I'm trying to use a different tactic on multiples this year. Rather than taking running shots, which you know I love to do, I'm trying to hold off if I only shoot once and then call them back. With the suppressor, I've found that they will come back pretty often to fights or pup distress sounds. Korey convinced me to give it a try. I probably should have waited for the male to get closer, but I figured while he was taking dump would be a good time to have him hold still. I think he would have died without hitting him again. Apparently enough shrapnel from the 50 gr. v-max punched some holes in his heart, but he ran a long way before running out of blood.

Thanks for the replies guys. As an addendum to the bear, Jim told me yesterday that the bear came out from behind the tree stand he and my hunting buddy were in. It was not really a large pine. They kept hearing him moving but didn't want to turn to try and see him figuring he might spook. The next thing they knew the bear was right under the tree, stood up and started shaking the tree they were in. That pine and tree stand did some swaying around with them in it. I guess the bear decided he couldn't shake them out of the tree and was too lazy to climb up which they often do. Anyway, Jim finally shot the bear with his 308 at 50 ft. Around here we can't leave any foam material like seats or railing covers on tree stand or even tripod stands as the bears will go up them and rip that stuff to pieces.

Oh yes, and he was just an average size bear, about 300 lbs but had a very nice hide which Jim is having tanned.

Funny. Bear are like kids. They can’t seem to stay out stuff.

Years ago two young bear wrecked my son’s feeder, turned it over and drug it down the hill out of camera view. Then they returned to where the feeder was originally sitting, and wrestled and played like they had done something good.

Anyone who uses a feeder here needs to attach a pulley to a "high and stout" limb and then run a cable over the pully to attach to the feeder and use a hand winch to raise it up high above where a bear can reach. Stand-alone feeders are destroyed just like your son's in a matter of days.

Jr, do you have a link to the electric repeller that you're speaking about? I don't use feeders but have friends that do. Thanks for the info.

I do not. The one I had was from Sportsmans Guide. Can look up Varmint Zapper, think may be Moultrie. Found this on ebay -
