Savage 11 VT questions

Hey all- this is my first post on this site so I hope I'm not starting something that has been recently discussed! I was curious who all owns or knows much about the Savage 11 VT.. This gun is a Dicks exclusive gun combo so it appears. I would put a fairly nice scope to replace the cheap bushnell that comes on it. I would like to get it in a 22-250. It has the accutrigger and bull barrel. I believe the stock is cheaply made but I can get this gun right now for 400$ and was open to your thoughts. I appreciate it! Thanks in advance, Benji

Welcome to the forum Benji! In my opinion that is a good buy for that rifle. I paid 489 for my light model 11 trophy hunter savage and it shoots fantastic. If I was a betting man, I would say it will be a shooter straight out of the box. I say snatch it up while you can. Good luck!

Welcome Benji. That sounds like a good deal. If you are not in a hurry Cabela's has an exclusive Savage Model 12 FV a lot of times on sale for $379 and recently Savage had a factory rebate for an additional $100 (the $100 rebate has expired but may come back again, never know). Doesn't come with a scope or anything but if you're going to upgrade the scope anyway it's a moot point. Either way, can't go wrong. Savages are great, accurate rifles that are inexpensive.

Edit to add: I just found that 11 VT gun on Dick's website. It has the trigger guard bolt release which will limit your aftermarket stock options. The Cabela's version I mention above has the top bolt release, which has a lot more aftermarket stocks available. Cabela's regular price is $419.

Had one of those (.243) VTs in my hands at Dick's one day, bought a Sako A7 the next. Couldn't have wasted more money if I'd lit farts with six burning hundred-dollar bills instead - about the difference in price between the two - and the Savage probably would have been more accurate out of the box.
That 12 FV @ Cabela's is a deal, too; blind magazine, though if that makes a diff. The 11's a little bit lighter than the 26" barreled 12.
Also, I believe both in .22-250 have 12-twist barrels that might be fast enough to stabilize 53 gr. V-Max bullets.
