I just bought a pre-accutrigger savage 110 tactical 25-06 really clean gun . I am going to make this my truck gun and wanted to get a thought on some lighter loads for coyotes and hogs. I have another 25-06 that I load for deer and big game so I have that covered with 117 grain hornady sst. I am thinking something like nosler 85 grain ballistic tips . What do you guys think?

I get over 3600fps with 85gr Nosler BT's and 54.5gr RL17. What
do ya think about THAT??

Savage 112 VLP, 26" barrel (yes, they made such a thing for
awhile).

Have not yet connected with a coyote, though.

I've used 75 v-max on coyotes and they get a little messy. I like the 100 BT better. I like the Reloader 19 for the 100 grain and either Varget or H4350 on the 75 grainers. Out of a 26" barrel they were traveling around 3700 fps. It doesn't take long to hit a coyote at 400+ yards.

You got a deal there. That is a great rifle/caliber for long shots and shooting in the wind up here on the plains. A very good hunting buddy of mine has one, I just got done doing a cerakote job on it for him. My dad had one too before he passed away, now it is mine. Both of those rifles are scary accurate with either the 115 NBT or the 85 NBT. Neither one really shines with the 100 for some reason, OK but not great. I guess if I was strictly using it for coyotes I might go with the 85, but the 115 shoots just as good and has a better BC. Both me and my friend shoot the 115 for everything and just don't worry about it. Dad also like the old Plain Jane 100 grain Hornady too. He killed over 250 coyotes with that Savage 25-06 of his.
