Savage 110 Tactical 6mm Creedmoor - Extractor detent.

Just picked up this rifle from an awesome local gun store (Vegas Firearms). Accepts AICS pattern mags. Accustock, accufit, accutrigger, easy to work up a handload for....love it.

Except....problem - wasn't extracting rounds. Would pull them out and then they would lay on the next round in the mag or on the follower.

Swapped the extractor from my Stevens 200, .243, and voila! Worked great. As I went to reinstall the detent ball and extractor from the 110 into the Stevens...dink! spring launched the ball into the unknown.

Did a little research and while the detent ball is listed on Brownell's page for $5.95, I found a 100pack of them on Amazon for $6.40 delivered the next day.

3.5mm is the size. Most bike shops have them in stock but I don't know for how much.

The OEM ball size is .125 and allows for a lot of play, but this 3.5mm is about .140 and gets rid of the slop.

Figured I'd share!

I like it a lot. I installed a 6.5x20x?? Vortex on it and sighted in with Hornady Black 105gr ammo. Then switched to handloads for a .77 group.

It's a little heavy but lighter than my RPR in 6mmCM so I'll probably take the Savage hunting now.

I installed the highest riser and left the LOP alone and it's a good fit.

You'll like it.

I’m pretty sure I used steel #4 bird shot. It is just fractionally larger than the original detent ball but works perfect and doesn’t seem to rust. I used the rifle for 5 or 6 years like that.
