Just bought a brand new Axis II, In .270. Lightweight. Forearm of stock tAkes getting used to, but it's a joy to handle compared to my old rem 710. Savage advertises it's ready to shoot out of the box. No, it's not. shooting 130 grain SST hp I had to play with 12 rounds to walk it in to2" MOA at 100 yards. Factory bore sight was 28" right, 24" too low, I kid you not! Bore sighting was done by a blind man? Lol. Bolt and innerds are delivered bone dry. But bolt action is nice and tight. Locks in to chamber nicely. Scope is standard beginner scope but gEts the job done. At 9x it is tough to see 3" bullseye at 200 yards, but rounds are on target with all within 4" group. Uand will easily drop a deer. I need to shoot more rounds before I get used to it. Accu trigger is nice. I have mine set to surprise me when firearm discharges, compelling me to concentrate on breathing and sight picture. Old 710 had me squeezing like mad! Bad part of rifle is the magAzine! All plastic. Had to pry mine out with screwdriver while pressing release Tab. Plastic mag release is hokey. Be careful, especially when it gets cold. I,m a (60 years old disabled veteran and I wear glasses so I am happy with the 2" MOA at 100 yards.
