Savage Axis Problems

Mine is close to benchrest accurate as is with 1 1/2 coiled off the trigger and a 30$ no brand 3-9×40 scope.

I feel bad for the op. I wish I had a good solution for him. But everything I would do has already been reccomended.
But. I think I have cleaned mine 3 times in over 500 rounds of shooting. . . All mine does is shoot. Real Good.

I have the classic model stock in forest camo.
Unfortunately some guns just wont shoot well, maybe a manufacturing issue or something undetermined in this thread. I had to ship my new B-mag back to the factory for several issues including accuracy and it was determined the gun was out of spec. Savage is replacing it on their recommendation.

Just to be clear, the B-Mag has nothing in common design-wise to the Axis. So problems/solutions for one, don't apply to the other.

I've read a lot of threads about the Axis and accuracy issues are rare. When they have occured, the vast majority were loose stocks, bad scopes or mounting, or other owner errors.

The bottom line is I would try the solutions above, the self-fix may be quick and easy.

Well here's the update did the trigger job, replaced the stock with a Boyds Laminate and still shooting a shotgun pattern. Any other ideas as to what I may have missed.

How many rounds have you put through it? Seems like mine shoots better the more I shoot it and the dirtier the barrel gets.

One other thing I did to mine, though don't know if it helped but I shot bullets with lapping compound through it. Don't know what that is called. Suppose to smooth out any burrs in the barrel. A total of 75 in three different grits. All I know now is my Axis is the best shooting gun I own. Beats my Rugers, Remington's and Brownings.

Since the gun is new have you tried contacting Savage ? Mine shoots good with the 50 ,55, and 64 grn factory ammo I have run through it . Maybe you got a barrel issue .

you said you cleaned it after every shot for 10 shots with no bore brush.you need to use sweets 7.62 to get the copper out for one thing.try that.clean it real good, get the copper out then go after some groups.use bronze bore brush, per instructions on sweets bottle

Did you contact Savage about it?

Coburn saved the company and rebuilt it with quality and excellent customer service and also significant cuts to the product line.

They (Savage) are a proud bunch when it comes to their rifles; I'd give it a shot and see what happens. You have nothing to lose. There might be an issue w/modifying the stock and trigger though...

Good luck,

If no-one can make it shoot it would have to be a problem with that rifle. It's savages problem at that point.

Nevermind. It can't be fixed but out the goodness of my heart I'll give you $100 for it
