Savage axis trigger

So I got me a savage axis yesterday. Went to modify the trigger. Cut two coils off on the spring, and it's still pulling 4.5lbs. Is there anything else I can do or should I just get the timney

A company called Mcarbo makes trigger springs. They might make one for the Axis but if you want a good trigger, Timney is probably your best bet. Or find a smith than can do good trigger jobs,

We put Rifle Basix triggers in two Savage Axis 243 Win rifles for a rancher and his son.

I don't think either one of them had ever shot a rifle with less than a 6 pound trigger pull. They both like the Rifle Basix triggers that they have been using for 4 years now.

I have the timney in mine and I like it. Have shot lots of bug holes with that gun. Last barrel I had on it I shot a 3 all touching at 200yards, 1.25 group at 500 yards. I did have the action trued, timed, then had the northland shooters supply recoil lug and barrel nut that are all trued and a BHW barrel on it, with a Boyd’s stock gun flat out shoots. Barrel is shot out I need to get a new barrel for it. Thinking a criterion from northland in 22-250 might be what I do.

There were some net instructions with the Axis trigger, seems like very inexpensive options. If you mess something up just get a replacement spring. I think I got an option from eBay.
