Lately I've been looking at some .22 Mag's and I've got it narrowed down to either a Henry Golden Boy and a Savage 93FVSS w/ the heavy barrel.I found both these guns on wally world(one of my relatives works there and can get 20 percent off of it).

I love the looks of the Golden Boy.I have always liked lever action guns and Henry is one of the best for them.BUT I hate the price tag.I'm afraid that I might drop it while carrying it or while I'm on the four-wheeler(just a couple of days ago my .243 fell off the four-wheeler).If something like that happens it will put a good beating on it.And thats alot of money to pay for a gun and then screw it up.

Then theres the Savage that is over $100 cheaper, comes with accutrigger, stainless, and a heavy barrel. Savage has fine guns and one thing that really makes me turn toward the this gun alot is that I wouldn't have to worry about rust that much and if I dropped it or something it wouldn't be as much of a loss as dropping the Henry.

So what would you guys do?If anyone here has a Henry/Savage 22 Mag,how does it perform?Any replys will help...

I have a Savage 93R17HMR with the heavy barrel. It shoots itty bitty groups if I do my job. I can't imagine how the Henry could be any better. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I'd take the Savage in a heartbeat and never look back at the Henry. The Henry is pot metal and plastic. I doubt it'd "take a beating." If you were lucky enough to locate one, the discountinued Winchester 9422M is one heck of a nice lever action .22 Magnum. Probably too nice a firearm to plan on it "taking a beating." Probably more expensive too, now that the 9422 is no longer in production. Marlin chambered a few 1894's for .22 Magnum and it's about as sturdy as any rimfire lever is ever going to get. But if money is a consideration, pick the Savage bolt.

Welcome to the board CSA and Me.

Get the Savage and don't look back! Savage will shoot circles around the Henry and you can scope the Savage with worry of the scope mounts coming loose and moving as with the rail system on the Henry.
