i recently bought a savage 16 fss. ive been looking into and hearing so much about these howa rifles for predator hunting. any ideas on if i should look into getting one or do you think my savage would shoot better?
I think that the 2 rifles in your signature would do it all when it comes to coyote's.I would spend the money on good glass for the savage or if you need a new gun then what the heck what do I know go for it.I love the looks of the axiom I just want a a AR style gun so I will do that next.
I think you have it covered with the two rifles you have now. The Savages shoot well, and the 22-250 will reach out there. Also, the 788 in 222 is a good predator rifle as well, I have the same rifle, and it is a nice one. I would also agree with Machinist, you will want an AR next, I did!

thanks for the help guys, i think ill keep my savage! just curious, anyone heard anything about or anyone own the new thompson center venture predator rifle?
dont have a savage but here its a grate gun.i do have a howa 1500 in 22-250 it is vere good shooter with 55gran v-shock.would not sell eather just buy another never have enough guns.
I have shot both and prefer the Howa hands down, way better trigger than the acu. Both are great rifles. The savage has been more of a staple, and so you will here more positive about it. You should be able to find better prices on the Howa, the trigger is better, and it will outshoot the savage out of the box.
I'm going to buy a new rifle here in the next few days and just looked at the Howa 1500 in 22-250 at Bass Pro today and it feels real nice. I was more in the market for a Savage but It's been hard to find one in camo with box mag and in 22-250 or 223. Bass Pro says they are on back order. All they had was one in a bull barrel with a blind magazine. I think I may take a closer look at the Howa.
I have a savage .223 model 12 FV thats been giving me fits. I wanted it to shoot 50 to 55 gr bullets, but it seems to like 60 and 69 gr bullets. Was checking out the howa 1500 varmiter with the laminated stock and heavy barrel, looks nice. Does anybody here have one, if so how does it shoot. My savage has a 1-9 twist, the howa a 1-12 which will like the bullets I like to shoot. 40 to 50grs
cedarcreekcooner, great to see that your gun shoots well. I just got home from Bass Pro and bought the Howa with Houge stock in 223. It's the ranch hand combo in full camo. I'm not that familiar with the Niko Sterling scope so I will give it a chance and see how it holds up. I really liked the feel of the gun and how balanced it felt. I really wanted a compact rifle so the 20" barrel fit the bill. The safety is just like the Remington's so that is also a nice feature. As I understand it the trigger is adjustable. If anyone has experience adjusting the trigger how hard is it? I can't wait to pick it up and take it to the range. I'll still have a week and a half left of Bobcat and fox season to test it out.

With your existing rifle ... and the above resources ... you'll be kicking ........ in no time!
As to triggers: There are good options that start from $30. There is a GREAT option from [beeep] at around $100. And the top trigger for some more (I don't know the price) called the Evolution ..... it's benchrest capable.
The Howa is a great rifle ....... my brother uses one in .270 win and likes it. But I have tried his trigger and those options I have brought up for your Savage will stomp his Howa trigger.
I guarentee you won't be sorry with a membership at Savage shooters.
