Savage Predator Max 1 .243

Kizmo,

How do you find the weight of the Max 1? I'm going to have to special order one as nobody carries it in stock around me. Point being I haven't held it yet.

I can agree with Savage being real shooters, especially these days.
I have a DPMS in .243 that I shot a few days ago with using Winchester .55 gr. Silvertips, I ended up with .75 MOA, with 90 grainers I was at an inch. Of course my Nikon Coyote Special scope isn;t really built for punching holes in paper but I was pleased. Coyotes and deer all get the same medicine this year just in different doses!

Barton.....have you had the Coyote scope on animals? I have this scope on a Max 1 .223 It shoots great but I agree with you not the best for punchin paper. Haven't had the chance to pull it up on a coyote yet, but the reviews are positive. How do you find it?

Their is another post about these guns on hear just a few weeks ago. I bought mine in 22-250 about a month ago. Let me tell you this gun is great the accu stock and trigger are a huge plus. This gun shot 3 shots into a small ragged hole the first box of ammo out of it. Wich were Hornady 55 grain V- Max. It's the best shooting rifle I have owned period. I would not hesitate to buy another one tommorrow. Great guns great stock free floated aluminum bedded and a trigger you can adjust at home that shoots very well. What more could you ask for? The max 1 stock and the Matt fluted barrel look good on each other as well. Hope this helps. Like I said the other post has pics of groups shot out of this gun. I would post my 3 shot group but y'all wouldn't believe it lol..... I'm telling you these guns can shoot. Take care Skinner

I have been shooting the model 10 max 1 in .243 since August and absolutely love it. I mainly hunt coyotes and wanted something a bit bigger that the .223 and I definitely made the right choice. I really didn't mess around with a bunch of different loads, tried the federal blue box 100 gr bullets and my group was about an inch, tried some 80gr federals and my group was then a cloverleaf with all shots touching. I'm now reloading sierra 85gr BTHP's, they really put the smack down on coyotes, with none to very little pelt damage.

won one a couple of weeks ago in 243. Worked up a load with 55gr NBT and a large dose of H4895.
Made a stand with it before dark yesterday. Killed 3 no issues. I hope I can shoot enough coyotes to burn the barrel out.
