savage trigger adjustment

I do not have the new accu trigger. I was reading several places on the net that a regular savage trigger can be adjusted. I backed out the screw 1 times that adjusts trigger pressure. I read that you can not go too much as this will affect the safety. is 1 to 1.5 times too much?

You can probably back it off a little further. The importtant thing is after you put the rifle back together, slam the butt down on the floor a couple of times to make sure that the sear doesn't release.

The three screw tigger is very adjustable. There are very good how-to's about this on savageshooters.com they will also show you how to check for it being to light.

I bought a 10fp in .223 from a guy who said it had set in the safe for ten years, the first time i closed the bolt on a live round, it went off. (i was at the range by myself) i then knew why it had sat for ten years. The trigger was set that light. blue

You can turn it out as many times as you want as long as the wire has pressure on it, and make sure it sits in one of the groves on the screw. you cant get them very light but it does make a difference. If by chance you have an older model they have three screws and can be adjusted to perfection.

You can also change the spring to make it lighter, the savageshooters.com site has all the info you'd want on it, more than I could even say in 3 lines.
