Savage vs Mossgerg MVP

I have narrowed my choices for a 223 bolt rifle to these two. But now there are many models of Savage, which is the one to buy ? The Mossberg has a 18" medium barrel and takes standard AR magazines and has an adjustable trigger. I am not a real big fan of the heavy bull barrels. I reload and will be reloading for whichever one I choose.
Does anyone have experience with the Mossberg MVP or which Savage model is the model of choice ?

I own a Savage FCV in .223 which shoots like an absolute dream, extremely accurate. It has the HV barrel on it which makes it comparable in recoil to a 22 mag. I will pick Savage hands down everytime vs any other factory rifle. People will complain all day about how their stocks feel cheap but shot for shot they are as accurate as you can get out of the box. If i were to get another Savage 223 and i didnt want a HV contour, the model 11 lightweight hunter would be it. I have no experience with the MVP or know of anyone who does.

If you look closely at the Mossberg, it IS a Savage. The MVP comes in several configurations. One has a heavy barrel. I have a light sporter MVP and it is outstanding. It is extremely accurate and functions flawlessly with 5, 10, 20, & 30 rd mags.

My brother just bought an MVP in 223. I have put about 50 rounds through it and it is a very serviceable gun . It is light and handy. Very accurate and has a decent trigger. I don't like guns with the magazine hanging below the stock because it makes carrying the gun with your hand at your side impossible. However other than that it would make an excellent calling gun. I like the Savage magazine better because it fits flush with the bottom of the gun. Another major advantage of the Savage are the large number of aftermarket parts available . I have a Stevens 200 and a 112fss and I have changed the bolt handles out on both. I would get a 110 series with detachable magazine. It's a nice package and should be less than the MVP.

Both are good choices.

I have the Mossberg MVP varminter and it shoots great. Have shot a 20 shot group that can be covered with a silver dollar. Trigger is adjustable but don't go as light as I'd personally like it to but it's definitely better than stock. I have used 20 round GI mags and 30 round Magpul mags with no problems.

I have the MVP with 24" barrel. Have shot many 1" 5-shot groups at 200yds. The downside is trying to carry it with the mag still in the rifle is a pain.
