`Saving private Ryan

Am I the only one that gets cold chills and wants to dry when I watch this movie?
I cant even begin to imagine what our grandfathers went through............just saying and I will forever be grateful for our service people.

There are several that make me stop and think ... and be thankful.

Saving Private Ryan is one of them.

So is In Harm's Way, Midway, and We Were Soldiers.

Forever greatful is right. Another to check out if you can find it is "Taking Chance". It was an HBO special movie. It's about the journey home for a KIA "Private Chance".
I extend a heart felt "thank you for your service" and a sturdy hand shake to veterans every opportunity I get.

At the showing of Private Ryan I don't think there was a word spoken in the theatre. Recently Lone Survivor and American Sniper have been excellent. My theatre was completely quiet except for a bit of sniffling and throat clearing after Lone Survivor. Nobody left until the lights came up bright. A middle aged couple were holding each other and the female was visibly upset. I imagined they had a son serving, or perhaps surviving wounded or sadly may have lost a son somewhere "over there." It was the same after American Sniper except for three teenage girls that whispered and giggled through out the movie. They did the same at the end during the real footage of the burial motorcade. I gritted my teeth to keep from snapping something vicious at the twits. My wife dug her nails into my arm several times as I started to turn on them behind us.

My son got me the DVD. I couldn't watch it for quite a number of years later. Finally one evening i was home alone and watched it. Just the beach seen alone i started to cry and cried thru a lot of the movie. Too many old memories, came back and i knew they would.
