Let the crusade begin? While I don't agree with what Cooper Arms (Dan Cooper) has done, it is after all his choice. The people who will lose their jobs are the innocent victims of this campaign. What if they're all Republicans? What source of income will they have for their families in this current economy?

What's really ironic about this is that no one would have known or done anything about it had the article not been featured in USA today.....I mean he's made these contributions for quite awhile. I would think if we really want to carry this to it's full potential anyone who's bought a Cooper rifle since the contributions were made should send them back to the company and ask for a refund. Let's check on all the other gun makers also and maybe we can put them out of business at the same time. Then Obama wouldn't have to ban our guns because we'd have put all the manufacturers out of business. That'd be something to gloat about wouldn't it? Drop a little blood in the water and the pirahnas go into a frenzy!

The rumor posted indicating Dan Cooper might have said we (hunters/gun owners) have short term memories may or may not be accurate, but in my opinion we sometimes do use the fire and forget method. Zumbo isn't bankrupt is he? I still see his name around about as often as I did before. At best he's probably learned to choose his words more wisely as I'm sure Dan Cooper will learn something as well.

I don't see Dan Cooper's PERSONAL choice to support Obama any different than I do one of the moderators on this board's decision to openly support the same candidate. If we crucify one, let's be fair and consistent with our delivery.

Again, I vote Republican and don't agree with Cooper Arms decision, but not to the extent where I'm willing to end the jobs of people who are just trying to make a living by working there.
 
Wow....If this doesn't beat all. It assures me even more that we must ALL stand strong, join the NRA and support each other during tough times.

I just sent an email to Mr. Cooper to express how unhappy I was in his decision. I also sent an email to the Hunting shack/HS munitions encouraging them to seriously question their professional aliances with Cooper firearms. I sent two more emails to Cabelas and Sportsmans warehouse expressing these same concerns on the subject.

Man when you say You're on it, you are on it. You are more computer savy than I'll ever be. How did you find out all that info so fast about his dealers etc. etc. You da man Javafour. I recognize some of the shops in Pa. and I'll be calling them in the morning. The closest one to me is Trop Gun shop in Elizabethtown Pa. about 15 miles. Seriously, though, when you are a small business owner then the personal IS the professional. A business owner has an OBLIGATION to his customers, not the other way around. To show contempt for and to insult them is the height of arrogance. We are ALL accountable for our actions and inactions in life, Cooper is no exception to this rule nor does he get a free pass.

HE has betrayed his staff, not us. HE was obligated to protect their jobs before he insulted his customers and rubbed it in their face by discussing his pro-gun control activities in a national publication.

As a free citizen, I can CHOOSE to do or not do business with people based on ANY reason I want to. Why should I support a man who supports the reduction of my freedom and who will reduce the quality of my son's lives? Sorry, I will not do that.

I'll get the word out about this guy to every fellow gun owner/hunter I know and I'll let THEM decide who THEY choose to do business with. From the sound of things, many share my view about holding Mr Cooper accountable.

I know you all know this, but I'll just say it anyway, when you guys contact the dealers be very polite and professional. Give them lots of courtesy because they just sell a product line and are probably as surprised anybody about Mr Cooper's self-destructive actions. Now, if they choose to continue to rep his products then you may choose to no longer do business with them--that's your call, but I suspect most want nothing to do with Cooper's meltdown.

Just how big a threat do you guys think you are? What I'm getting at, is how many of you have ever purchased a Cooper? If you have never bought one, threatening to to take your business elsewhere doesn't mean much.

Let's get real if you are not part of his customer base, why should he care?

Before you start attacking me, let me say the following:

I don't agree with Dan's position, assuming the media quote is correct and that is always suspect. I've purchased 28 Coopers in the past 5 years and still own 25 of them. Number 26 is on order and I am NOT canceling the order. Therefore I get 26 votes.

How many votes do you have?

Me niether. I'm pretty sure the person you're speaking of is very well aware how unpopular his political leanings are here at PM. There are a few members here, who if they made a living by selling stuff to us, would be feeling the sting right now. I might not dislike them personally, but it would be difficult for me to do business with them because we have fundamental differences.

When someone makes their living off sportsmen and is presumed to be a supporter of certain beliefs, they need to be careful about how they are perceived by their customers. Whether Obama is the great danger to 2nd Amendment rights that he is being made out to be or not, he is certainly a threat to some degree. Why would anyone who values those rights wish to put a dime in Cooper's pocket when they can see how he has spent some of that money? If I owned a Cooper rifle I'd be pi$$ed that even one cent of my hard earned dough made it's way to support Obama. It is a shame that the employees get caught in the crossfire for sure, but as comsumer to producer how else do you send a message but to hit them where it hurts?

Like Zumbo, Cooper won't go bankrupt, he'll survive. But he may not have as much in the contribution till.
