Scent lock/block gear??

My opinion on scent lok or scent blocker is that it is just another piece of camo. I have three to 4 different types. I've taken care of it like the directions say. I'm not spending any more money on that junk. I activate it and use it, store it in the scentlok bag, place the scentlok bag in an air tight storage container, spray down before useing it, use it once, take it off and store it in the bag, place the bag in the container. The next time I go to use it, this is when the problem starts. The clothing smells fruity. I've tried to find out what is going on. Talked to the dealers about it smelling fruity. No answers. Talked to manufactures. No good answer. I've had better luck using scent killer spray with my plain old camo. Have had deer, yotes, fox down wind of me and not even bat an eye at all different yardages. But with the scent lok I've had deer smell me from up to 150yds away start stomping and snorting. I try not to use it very much unless I need a different camo pattern. DON'T SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY. If any one can give me any idea what is going on. Let me know

Its not a miracle cure all for scent! Its just another tool in a long line of scent defense and even if it doesn't work it is still some great clothing. People see something they can't afford and say it sucks cause they can't have it. Or they are just ignorant.

This reminds me of when I got my first compound bow... everyone scolled me that I do not need that... now everyone has one. If we did not try new things we still would be using rocks and sticks to hunt with. I have scentlock and scent blccker gear... I believe it does help to decrease your scent distribution but not a cure all. Everyone has the choice to do what they feel works for them.

OR they have been killing coyotes for years without it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ignorant I don't think so. I have shown the scientific evidence that not only does this stuff not work at all as advertise but it actually does the exact opposite of what it is supposed to do. That is what gets me, what little carbon that is in these suits will be come over saturated with your scent and actually pour your scent into the air.

I own 2 scentblocker outfits and would'nt be with out them. The fact is they don't kill scent completely but they cut down on the amount of molecules in the air spooking game less, making it seem like danger is not so close or threatening.

I wouldn't say that they are ignorant and can't afford it if you do't know the people that you are talking about. This is my opinion and I know that you have your own opinion on how it works. I just don't like the way it smells fruity after using it and storing it. I do really like the way that it fits and the way that they lay out the pocket system. The suits that I have I won't give them up because they fit me better than any of the cheap camo that is out on the market. So if your asking if I would spend the money for the scentlok I would have to say no to the scentlok but yes to the clothing line because of the way it fits and the layout. I would be more apt to believe you still have to play the wind. It is not a cure all. Just another tool. And the tool that I'm looking for is a good fitting usable camo. That is all it is to me. PS. I CAN AFFORD IT.

I want to see the evidence. I have worn mine now for about 4 years and in all that time i have not had one deer wind me. I have had several deer come right to me with the wind going over my back and right to them. I do a lot of hunting from the ground and would not, will not, do it with out scent lok. I think its a little different with the coyotes though. I treat the wind differently when im coyote hunting than when i deer hunting. For you to say that you have scientific evidence that shows they dont work i want to see it. Its time to put up or shut up.

Also who ever said that carbon cannot be regenerated is full of crap. How many of you have water softners in your homes. What do you think is in there to remove the hard water. Most of them are using a coconut shell carbon. And guess what it regenerates with a with a salt and water solution. So whoever keeps saying that it cant be regenerated is full of B.S. Because it can and does get regenereated.

Call it cicumstantial if you wish, but since I started using Scent-Lok I rarely have had deer wind me. I also bowhunt on the ground quite a bit, including some warm weather. I was always fanatical about scent control even before using carbon clothes. Bottom line is I don't see near the white flags now as I did before. I'll still maintain that a predator's nose is far better than a deer's so it won't help as much when hunting yote/fox.

Back before deer season came in this year, Cablela's had a huge online sale on ScentLok clothing. I've always been a little scepticle(?) of carbon clothes, but for 60% off if nothing else I had new camo. I bought the whole getup. Jacket, shirt, pants, socks, base layers, headgear, and boots. I have always been careful with my scent control, but I'm always looking for an edge anywhere I can get it. It may be just coincidental, but this year I saw more bucks than I ever have and took my largest with a bow to date. Does it work? I have no idea. Will I stop using it? Not likely. Will I buy more? Probably. Rattling in four bucks over 140....at the same time under my stand made a believer out of me. This stuff ain't magic. You still have to use proper scent control/garment storage, but it "might" offer a slight advantage so I use it. Can't hurt your chances anyway.

The way I look at this is the person who is interested in buying and using the scentlock type clothing should research it an find out is it fact or hype.I felt like it was Hype and after a little fact finding and talking with people who get paid to wear it found out it truly was hype but if it gives you confidence go for it cause its your money. I saw mentioned above the X Static product and similar silver based products that the military has proven that eliminate odor they are great products but they do not cover your scent just do not allow bacteria to form. Most of the scent lock clothing is well made and designed but no way does it cover your scent anymore than any other type clothing that is available.

A majority of the human scent is from the bacterial growth on your body. So if it does stop the growth of the bacteria then it should help with your scent???? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Pb you are right it helps but the X Static does not eliminate all the odor from say your breath your hair etc.It only prevents bacteria from causing odor on the clothing your body could still smell bad is the way i understand it.
