scope adjustment

Can anyone tell me what to if I run out of elevation adjust and am still 2"s low at 35 yds Do I need higher rings lower rings or what.The rifle is a 527 american.Any help would be very much appreciated /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif :
 
It would REALLY help if you mentioned what scope you have.

Higher or lower rings will not change this (unless the rings you have are defective).

I would recommend that you call the importer, since you don't have much choice in rings for this rifle.

Couple of things to check.

Are you adjusting the correct direction ?

Are the rings in line with each other ?

What height rings you using ?

Higher rings will not help.

What scope ?

What caliber?

In a typical scoped rifle the bore is about 1.5-2" lower than your line of sight thru the scope. Meaning the bullet is in fact starting lower than what you see. At closer ranges, inside like 50 yds. often you would have to aim high to make a hit because the bullet has not came up to your line of sight yet.

Try sighting the gun in at 100 yds.
 
if your windage is good I will second the 100 yrd site in, the bullit is still rising at 35 yrds. Keep us posted and let us know where the holes are at 100 yrds.

Best I can say is you can shim either the front or back ring. Brass shim stock from the auto parts store will work and I've seen guys cut shims from Pepsi cans.

I've had better luck with Millet windage adjustable rings on the 527's than CZ rings and they are windage adjustable which is a plus, but wouldn't help you with elevation.

I'd sure think about lapping the rings if I shimmed them.
 
Are you rings reversed? some ring sets have a front and back ring, one being slightly higher than the other.
Again what scope and what caliber rifle? is your CZ?
 
sorry I forgot to mention it is a 221 fireball and a luepold vx III 3.5x10 40 mm with talley rings cz was out of rings when I bought the rifle but they are going to send me a set.Thanks for all the help ,rings may be backwards

If you want to check your rings, and have a boresighter, you can put your gun in a vise, use the boresighter to get a picture of where it is aligned now (i.e. 2 boxes right, 2 boxes up from center), remove the scope, reverse the rings, mount the scope, and recheck where it is in the boresighter. This will not solve your problem, but if your rings are reversed, the alignment will change drastically when you swap them. I have never used talley rings, so I don't know if they come reversible or not. If they are, it is time to shim, center, and start over.
 
There are several folks that make rings for the CZ's 11mm dovetail. Tally and Millet come to mind right off and millet's are windage adjustable. I've got a CZ set on one 204 and a set of Millets on my old shooting partner's 204.
