Seekins/Badger/Ken Farrel seem to be pretty highly regarded on the "higher end" of the spectrum. In general, I think a 1 piece base is a better idea than 2 pieces, regardless of brand. The EGW Remington 700 SA 20MOA mounts aren't a bad price at $38.95. We have a local custom rifle builder that buys the EGW bases from us for his customers' rifles for "high end" builds. Remington 700 338 Lapua 1000yd type guns with several thousand dollars in the rifle and 12-18month turn around time. They said they recommend the EGW to customers because they work well and have never had a problem with them.

I'd get whatever you feel comfortable spending, knowing you'll probably get a little nicer fit&finish with the more money you spend. Some of the higher end might be extended, possibly made of a better material (7075 versus the 6061 EGW standard rails), recoil lugs, etc.

I have 3 EGW 1pc 20 moa bases on my 3 savages....not one issue in 4 yrs. High end dont mean high quality either, just high cost.

Just to make things a little more complicated....
If you are only wanting function and don't care about the looks of the rail, take a look at burris signature zee rings. I use them on my 223 and 22. They have plastic inserts, that provide the can't so you can decide the amount of MOA you want. I am a real big fan of them. They also help you get the scope lower to the bore, than rails generally allow. I bought mine from optics planet on sale, and everything all told was like $30

. The fit and finish to gun and rings is PERFECTION. Iv got it on my heavy kickers. Light kickers EGW good bases for money.

+1 for Seekins. I like that they have a recoil lug incorporated into the base. May not be needed but it is better to have it and not need it....
