Scope choice

I have been a probably 10 year lurker on here šŸ˜†. Anyway I just got a tikka t3x in .308 and am trying to get the most out of finding sales on decent glass. Looking at 2-10x. Found and was pretty much ready to buy a 2-10 veracity on Natchez that’s like 1/2 price because it has a discontinued reticle.
Then I came across a sweet deal on a Steiner predator 4 open box. It’s about $250 more but just seeing if anyone has either of these scopes and what you think of it. Use is kind of an all around game rifle in the Florida woods. Deer, pigs occasional coyotes but I have a dedicated .223 AR for that anyway.
Any info appreciated.

Idk if it’s still a thing, but Natchez used to sell mostly refurbished stuff. I got a Weaver Super Slam from there years ago and the turret was broken when I took it out of the box, they did exchange it and the 2nd scopes turret broke as well. Never bought from them again.
2-10? Maybe a Meopta Optika 5, or VX3HD? Should be one Memorial Day sales happening.
If your def set on the Burris or Steiner, I’d probably choose the Steiner. Burris does have a good warranty though. I’ve owned neither brand.

I’ve considered all of them, def not set on any one brand. Just want something with a decent FOV that’s not too much $$$. I even considered putting a low power on it. 95% of my hunting is done with AR’s, I have never used more than a 3-9 and all my other rifles have 1-4’s on them. I just figured a 2-10 would bridge the gap nicely.

How much money do you want to spend on a scope?
It depends. I really don’t need anything crazy. The Burris is $350, the Steiner is almost $600. Looks pretty much just like a veracity with illuminated reticle. So many options. Viper HD I can get for like $400. May just throw a Fullfield that I have on it for now if I can’t decide.

Have you looked at a Burris XTR II 3-15? I have this scope on a Tikka T3 243 and a Tikka T3 lite 22-250. You can also catch them on sale.

Well,
I returned the sig scope. Magnification was crazy off. 2.5 on the low end was like .75 like zoomed out almost. Also terrible field of view on pretty much every level of magnification. Back to the drawing board.

I've been shooting an Athlon Argos 2-12x42 w a BDC ret. And it is a pretty nice scope. I have a couple Sightron S-tac 3-15 scopes decent duplex in them. I'm thinking another day one of these days.

If y'all want to spend some time watching some scope reviews on YouTube, Cyclops Joe Rhea does some pretty good reviews. He mainly does "affordable" scopes with a few high dollar ones threw in every now and then.

Why limit yourself to daylight only. You mentioned hogs and coyotes. There are some awesome digital scopes that will let you hunt both worlds. Save up a little more and you will be able to hunt anytime.

I'd go with the Steiner Predator. The glass quality is going to be better with the Steiner. Low light gathering capabilities, clarity is going to be better with the Steiner.

Y’all keep talking about low light capabilities and even your cheaper scopes today will have you capable of shooting well before and after legal light. I use a rifle for culling does and have to set a vibrate alarm on my phone for actual daybreak and the 30min after sunset to stay legal. I can see WAY past legal times and that’s even hunting in cover with very little ambient light.
