What are you using for your flip ups? I'm done with Butler creek!!! Absolute JUNK! I had my eye on a nice set from Leupold but they sure are proud of them. I just know that I will never own another set of butlers! If it isn't the screws popping out its the weak plastic that is supposed to bend and allow the cap to cover the lens, that breaks off after using 4 times!!!?? I thought they had the spring debacle fixed and now this with the plastic caps.. Sorry, but its frustrating when equipment fails.

Oh yea those butler creek caps are chit for sure.

As of late I've been buying their bikini caps and just zip tie them to the scope tube so I don't loose them.

The old ones worked well, the new version suck !

I have used Butler's for over 15 years and have had no issues. Guess I'm lucky?

I will only buy them where I can fit them on my scope/shade myself. I do not buy them online.

For my Leupold's, I use the Alumina Flips. If you keep an eye out in some of the forums classifieds, you can pick them up on the cheap.

I have butlers but am also not impressed, particularly with the objective end. Sling rifle over shoulder/along side pack and inevitably the objective end pops open. I was pissed when they were bought and all the tooling went from Belgrade, Montana to China (correct me if I'm wrong).

Anyone tried Quake? They look the same.

I like the simple/effective idea above using a bikini with zip ties. Simple wins.

It seems I shear the Butler Creek covers off right at the base of the caps between the cover and hinge. I just broke another eyepiece cover on my calling rifle Saturday morning. I think it is the plastic getting brittle in the cold. It was 23°

. Mine are lucky to last more than a year a set. I don't take the easy path most times and my gear gets used pretty hard.

I bought some Weavers last year. They have worked ok so far. I lost the they small end once, but was able to back track and find it. Then I taped it on. For some reason I took the tape off and lost it again. I think it is mainly because I have an illuminated reticle scope so it fit ok, just not snug. I have noticed the big end does move some, but is much more secure.

My older ones have worked well, with no problems...I've never needed to replace them, so don't have any experience with the newer ones...

Bikini covers and zip ties have been working great for me too.
I had another Butler Creek fall apart a couple of weeks ago.

Butler Creek on all.Mine are the all black ones without the clear caps. The last time I needed some I considered the clear caps but the reviews put me off.Looks like I made the right choice.

I agree. I have older Butler Creek and have no issues with them. The new ones are JUNK!!! I have gone through 3 sets in 2 seasons. I now just use neoprene covers. Not only does it protect the lense, but also the whole scope.

If you have a smaller scope, you can try the BC one piece tactical flips. I have one on the eye box on one of my brush guns. Its nice because there isnt a hinge to break but i have a hard time getting it to stay closed..

I like the idea of the flip ups, but I cannot keep from breaking them. I went to the bikini scope covers and never looked back. I like the idea of zip tying them to the scope.

I was about to order some Butler Creek flip caps, but kept reading bad reviews. Looks like I'm sticking to bikini or neoprene covers.

Something bad has happened to the Butler Creek caps. I have seen them break while still in the store. They are way too fragile for me to invest in.
