Does anyone know of a good scope for a mini 14 ranch rifle? I want to use it for coyote hunting in eastern NY. Thank you for any info.

be sure what ever scope u get its a good one , those cheap ones wont last . the minis are [beeep] on scopes , it takes a better scope to hold up to the beating the mini gives them .

I've got the silver Nikon 3-9 Buckmaster on my stainless Ranch rifle. To reduce the recoil, install a reduced diameter gas bushing and an operating rod buffer. They're pretty violent from the factory and your brass goes for quite a trip. I don't know if you like this look or not.

Those are the Ruger stainless rings that came with the rifle, even though they look black in the pic.

Ive been using a Bushnell 3200 Elite for a few years on my Mini, its held up very well. Im not sure if the Ranch ejects the same way, but you may want to build a deflector for the Brass to keep ejected shells from hitting the Turrets. Some guys rotate the scope to avoid this problem.

Naw, it launches them out the side, they never touch my scope. I have an older Mini that ejects more vertically, too.

I have the very same scope on my mini and it has been a great scope. this gun is my night gun and i love the firefly retical. the cross hairs do cover up one inch at 100 yrds on 4.5 power though, they are thick. we cant use lights here for nigh hunting and the firefly works great.

Good to hear cracker, I'm gonna do load work with a high power scope and after I've settled on a load, go to the smaller scope and sight in somewhere between 50-70yds. I have a 2-7x that I did that with and it's been perfect. Just shot again at 100 and 200 to double check.

cracker- Man post again, you're the second evil poster I've seen in the last couple days

One with a really wide field of view so you can see all the bullet holes /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif. I'd use a 3x9 of some type.

every one is forgetting that the mini wasnt made for tack driveing , it was made for human size targets ,so it would cover that nicely

what type of accuracy do you get out of the mini 14

on my mini14 223 i can get about 1 1/2 with 4 shot groups at 100yd, alot depends on how fast u shoot . rapid or bump fireing the barrel will heat up fast and the shots goes crazy lol

now the mini 14 6.8 will shoot alot tighter groups

I didnt figure u could have a mini in canada ??

Missouriman- you're not to far off with that assumption. There's not a whole lot of options up here. I had an ASI mini built that I'm chewing my fingernails off waiting for. It's been ready since mid August and between me, the exporter, and the shipper it's still not here. I Pray it's coming next week.
I've got enough into it that if the laws change, I'm gonna be deep in a hole.
